It’s a key. Vendor says it’s the same type that casinos use on slot machines.

Like a glove. They work like this, insert key, turn right 90 degrees, key is captured in the lock and you can pull the cap straight off. To install cap, push on, turn key left 90 degrees, key is released and cap is locked in place.

Is there an o-ring seal on both the fuel and DEF caps such that sloshing liquid doesn't seep out of the caps?

Can you take a photo of the other side how it locks in? $250 kind of steep but they look great. If anyone tried to tamper/steal fuel would love to see that losers reaction noticing the locked caps lol

Has anyone done the real-world test like grabbing both caps with a pair of gloves on and pulled hard repeatedly like a perpetrator would to check the strength and toughness of the cap retention system? Can't tell if the retention pieces are plastic or metal or ??

The retention pieces are plastic. I'll post a pic when I can. In my opinion the only potential downside to these caps. Though plastic can be very strong and could be perfectly adequate.

This is a picture of the business end with the caps in the unlocked position. When locked, the retention fingers are retracted into the cap.
