I prefer a limited slip to a locking differential on a primarily street driven truck.
Most lockers have poor manners on the street and can be harsh.
I also like the fact that a good limited slip works with no driver interaction required, no switch, relay wiring etc.
In snow/mud the differential action is beneficial too, you don’t always want both wheels spinning at the same rpm.
Plus it works at any speed.

From what I can tell from online research, this means 3.31 electronic locking. I compared to my dad's 2024 with the FX4 package, and the axle codes are identical. I will be ecstatic if I have the locker and just have to wire it up! Even more so if it's relatively simple to add factory function.
it seem odd they would put an elocker in. You can test it. Lift up the truck and spin the wheels. They should go opposite directions. Apply 12volts to the pins in that connector and see if you hear a click and then see if the wheels still spin. They should be locked and only allowed to spin together in the same direction. Put it in neutral and you can probably get them to spin together in one direction.

I ended up with an extra harness that goes from the truck to the diff. I could send that to you for $40 if you end up wanting it.

the plug for the 4wd switch has the extra wire for the locker but the non lock up switch is missing one pin compared to the lock up switch.

I won’t have time to try programming it until later next week but I am not worried about it. It should be easy to wire directly if I can’t make the programming work.

I agree it would be odd. I wouldn't have looked further, but I noticed the plug on the housing. I had read that when others added lockers, one of the pains was drilling the housing. So that got me looking. I wish I could find more info on the 4 digit axle codes. Most everything is on the axle codes in the door sticker. From what I can find though, 3E31 indicates e locker. While 3S31 or 3 31 would be standard/open. I imagine the axles are pre assembled, and then picked from inventory at the truck assembly plant. Assuming the 3E31 coding is correct, it would also be odd for an axle designated that way to then have an open carrier swaped in. I don't know, it's a long shot.

I really don't need the locker or limited slip. 95% or more of the time it will be on the road, with just the occasional trip the Outer Banks, hunting, or camping where it will be off road. In those cases 4wd is more than sufficient the majority of the time, but I would like the extra piece of mind of having actual 3x4 vs 2x4 in a rough situation. I just feel like the truck is less than without it. All that to say it was going to be kind of hard to justify spending ~$1600 to add a Tru Trac or OEM locking carrier. It would be a dream come true if some simple wiring is all that is needed.

Also, if I do have the locking carrier and your programming works out, I will definitely purchase the harness from you.

No posi, lsd or locker in a 4wd is the dumbest thing in the world. I almost got stuck in the grass the other day and of course my self locking hubs no longer work.

Never rely on those, always lock them manually if you need 4x4.

yeah. So you have this beast of a truck stuck in the grass and you have to get out and lock it in to make a slight hill. I call that embarrassing.

I will likely lock in the hubs at the first sign of snow and leave them locked until spring.

Yeah, I wouldn't want one with the electric shift either.

We call that a tire problem.

Did the same thing by drilling out my housing

and even "enable elocker" through Forscan and still no elocker. I assume there is something in the "as built" sections but I have to yet locate it. If you locate it please let me know.
Just a little FYI,
I had noticed where some wire the elocker straight to 12v but my research shows ford designed the elocker to engage at 95% duty cycle then drop to 45% until deactivated. I can only assume this is to prolong the life of the locker. IDK

i had a truck sitting here with the same set up as mine but with diff lock. I borrowed the 4wd controller from that and plugged it in. Yes the locker locks and unlocks while sitting here but I am not 100% sure it will shut off at 30mph or whatever speed it is. I am not seeing any dash indicator. The truck I borrowed it from has a larger screen than I do and it has an indicator that comes on and off.

I ordered a controller from eBay and will report back after I get it in and do more testing. It was $50. Here is a pic of the unit I tried and the one I ordered on eBay has the same part number. The part number on the bottom is the same is the non lock except for the L at the end.

total I am at $625 for the complete locker axle, $50 for the control module and $50ish for the 4wd/locker switch. Everything plugs in.

So I ordered the "Locker" controler, pull ****, from ebay as well. Mine will not lock but 4x4 works when activated BUT no elocker. I did test the elocker when I pulled it as well as the wiring harness that came with it. I may pull it and check the serial # compared to yours. Sorry I Just noticed you were talking about the TCM. I will look one up. Thx
PS. Where was the controler located ?

Awesome, thank you and I will look at mine today. I scanned, forscan, a buddies truck, 2017 f350 srw lariat limited, and compared TCM "As Built" data. Wow there are a lot of differences. I am curious what all runs through the TCM and what changes will do to my truck even if I put it back to build. Dont get me wrong there are a lot that is the same but his being a limited, he has a lot more features that I do not have. Trial and error I guess 😂
Well I tried to write all the data, TCM, from my friends truck to mine with NO success. It started writing then stated "process interrupted". So I found a module on ebay and ordered it. Thanks for the module #.
