Good afternoon Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Someone flipped the switch yesterday morning and the internet almost completely vanished. Extremely sporadic now.
Smoke rolled in big time yesterday evening and it was pretty bag this morning. Southerly breeze now hasn’t helped. Blowing smoke from several sources, the main one being Pine Creek Fire right in on top of us. Was going to scout elk in my old haunts, not so far all the roads are closed. Went over fire area and closures with a USFS Ranger a couple of days ago. He had some good maps. Most of my old elk hunting grounds were not on fire but the areas beyond them are. The roads to my areas are closed to the public for fire operations. This morning’s sunrise 21” & 23”. Wife caught the smaller one. 3lbs 1 oz. Mine was 3lbs 5oz. She thought she had an unbeatable biggest fish of the trip and it would be unbeatable. 30 minutes later….and now you know how I got to sleep out with the dog last night.
Good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Still have smoke this morning but not near like yesterday.
Very few camps in the campground. Nearest one to us is far enough away that we can’t hear their generator.
Fishing slow but steady this morning.

We camped up at Timothy Lake this weekend and half of the time could not even see Mt. Hood.
I do have a question for any folks in the Hillsboro/Beaverton/Tigard area....are there any stations that have DEF out of the pump? I bought my truck in May and have not seen any.

We are at Diamond Lake - nearly the opposite end of the Cascades in Oregon and surrounded by the Diamond Complex Fires.
As to DEF, I usually get it at Wally World or Costco. About the only time I recall seeing it at a pump is at truck stops.

Morning all. The Valley is clear today and nice to see the blue sky vs the fog and drizzle that is the coast. That's why I don't spend any time at the coast in the summer. Left early yesterday to get back to the sun and warm. Ended up mowing the weeds so the place looks good again.
DEF - You can get a cardlock card for CFN, Pacific Pride, or whatever is near you. Diesel is different than gas so you don't need to fill out certain tax forms to get a diesel/DEF card and there is no gallon requirement like for gas. I had a diesel card for years and it was easy peasy. Call Carson Oil, Jubitz, and I'm sure there are local fuelers in your area and ask them. Much nicer to fuel at a card lock since they are built for big trucks and usually not busy like a retail station. my 2 cents.
I was looking into card lock at one point. They were requiring a business name. Do you know if that has changed? Although with some Pilot-Flying J-Good Sam discounts I get, it’s pretty hard to beat prices. Although it’s kind of comforting to know you have a card lock key when the only fuel you’ve seen go the last 150 miles is a CFN.
When I had the Government cards for CFN and Pacific Pride it was pretty convenient. Especially on the Police Motorcycle. It was pretty easy to get out of range of the county shops.
Just made “a trip” with Snoopy. More play than business. But, it’s looking really clear. Resort lights across the lake, stars and Mt Thielsen can all be seen. It’s as if there were no fires around. We’ll see how long this lasts.
Snoopy is tucked back in bed. So, I’ll try it again myself.

I never had one (in the beginning) but you can just make one up, no one is going to check for diesel. I used to run red fuel in one of my boats and there is a simple form to fill out that you "certify" it's for off road use. Rules might vary with each supplier. I went from West Valley Farmers to Wilco to Bretthauer and now Jubitz.
Cost is variable but I have honestly never cared what the cost is. Sometimes it's more by 10 cents, some it's less than retail. The convenience, not dealing with the general public, and self serve has been worth it all these years. Since I fill out the right tax forms, I get gas which is good since I don't have a diesel rig other than my tractor. I get E0 for the boat so that works out well. When traveling I do use Love's or Pilot because finding a pride can be difficult when out of state. I'll be interested to see if I can still hit the gallonage now that I have a more efficient commuter rig. I guess maybe that means I need to run the boat more. LOL
