I got em. The wife was down there just listening while she worked out, just had to keep telling myself, happy thoughts, happy thoughts. Got it all in, turbo fully mounted all clamps on and up-pipes are tight.
Tore into the wiring harness, got it all taped back up and am putting my list together to relocate the GPR. For those of you that have done this, did you get rid of the AIH relay? Or move it somewhere? I deleted the heater and have the resistor, just wondering if it’ll throw a CEL if I just tape the wires up and tuck them away? Or is it just a soft code? Tried to clean it up and replaced some of the old brittle loom. Most of the pig tails look ok, not the best but not the worst. I have a new rubber seal piece for the IPR connector as the old one was complete mush and goo. The bracket is NOT going back in.
Hope to get the harness in this week, and the accessories back on, with any luck I’ll just be waiting on my new fan and condenser to arrive.
edit still need to figure out what im doing with the 42pin connector…..seeings how I cut the head of the bolt off and all that. Don’t know if I could rig something to keep it tight or not.
I honestly haven’t even looked at it, but I recall reading on here someone with the same issue was able to gain access to the nut. If I could do that, I could figure out a way to either get it out, or re-secure it, via glue or a new nutsert or something along those lines. I’ll look into tomorrow when I get home.
For the 42 pin you could always apply the Redneck Arts with some twisted up safety wire to hold the halves together.
I won't tell anyone I swear.
I use zip ties on the ignition coils our Toyotas. The clips get brittle with age and break. Loop the zip tie through the connector and around the bolt. Good as new. 😂
Good ol' fashioned rebar tie wire, will be the temporary fix. I'll put it out there for the world to hear! Tore into it a little bit tonight, got the wires ready for the gpr extension cables, and taped up all of the aih wires (dont want to cut them.....just yet, I know it looks half assed, but I have my reasons). Messed with the 42 pin connector and immediately started breaking crap. Done. Its near impossible to gain access to the backside, with all of the wires still connected, and without that access, I cant really get to the back of the nut, so I am just quitting while I'm ahead. Have some time off the next couple of days, going to try and get the wiring harness back in, and basically button it all back up. Putting the new AC parts on hold for now, as well.......in Ohio I wont need AC until may at the earliest, and saving some dollars is nice while work is slow. Getting the fan ordered first thing in the morning, had planned on doing it earlier this week, and completely forgot about it as I was cleaning some stuff up this evening and looked over at it and said shoot I might need that!
Need to watch some youtube ed-uh-muh-cation videos on getting rid of the useless vacuum hoses as I have manual hubs, does getting rid of that solenoid throw a CEL or just soft code as well? Soft codes I can live with as I'll know what they are, and am the only one that will ever work on my vehicles, but I don't want to be looking at that check engine light.
And since I'll be home alone, maybe I'll fire the "paint booth" back up AKA the garage, and paint my last two pieces AS soon as the wife leaves for work, maybe shell never know?
My truck doesn't have the vacuum hubs. The vacuum on mine is just routed to the hvac box from the factory. I can get pics of anything and how it's routed if you need. Just let me know what you want to see.
I'll dig into it first thing in the morning, and report back here. Youtube makes it look pretty easy, just trying to free up space, and make everything look as tidy and professional as possible.
