Also, thought you’d be interested to know I installed my rear main seal tonight using the flex plate spacer and it worked great! I used 4 bolts in a rectangle pattern and it snugged right up.
I did the exact same thing yesterday. Worked perfect.

The riffraff parts addition list keeps growing. Really wanted to use a screened hpop res gasket but for whatever reason mine has the non screened one. Every thing on this truck has been late 99 thus far, here’s the one thing that isn’t! Might be adding the mini spacer so I can use the screened gasket for peace of mind.

Going to call and chat with them on the phone tomorrow after I scrub the crap out of this oil cooler. Tempted to throw all 3 pieces in a tub of degereaser over night 🤣🤣🤣

The screened gasket isn't just a late 99 thing. They went to it sometime in 00 or 01 I believe. My late 99 had the non screen gasket as well.

I had the machine shop clean all my aluminum parts and it was definitely worth it. That’s kinda weird regarding the hpop screen gasket, your front cover looks just like mine and mine has a screened hpop gasket. I would be sure to double check on that!

and I know how it feels, I started a parts list and got well over $500 pretty quick

yeah I think it’s a serial number thing from what I’m reading, we have early late 99’s 🤣

Im not getting that crazy. If I do find a rust free truck one day, I’ll do a full tear down and machine shop build, this was meant to be just a quick scrub and re-seal job……..trying realllll hard to keep it that way haha

This is true. Mine had lot of early 99 front end parts. Early 99 track bar, u bolts, steering box, just random front end parts. Everything else was late 99. All 08+ now though. 😂

Well another day in the books. Had a slight screw up (my brain, it hurts) but the pan is on and whats done is done. While prepping to put the pan on, I noticed a small dot of rtv that came through with one of the rear main seal bolts, and thought "hey ill grab that off with some long needle nose pliers before I put this pan on". Well, its in there for the long haul now. Was just sitting in the recliner and it dawned on me that I forgot to get that out.

Got my order in (hopefully the last for awhile) with clay at riffraff for the coolant filtration system, mini hpop res spacer and fuel bowl drop bracket so I can run the screened hpop gasket, as well as ANOTHER fuel bowl re-seal kit. This just means ill have to wait for new CAC boots and clamps, but those arent a must have right now.

Had to run to work and do some paperwork and training, so I took the oil cooler with me and got it in the parts scrubber and cleaned it up real good. Brought it home and flushed everything out one last time, and blew some air through it with the shop vac just to make sure all the old oil and crap was out, taped it up and got it painted. Decided to test out the "smoke" and anodized red on this, and I must admit, I think the red turned out awesome. Its alot tougher to spray than the blue for whatever reason, but I kind of like it. Pretty much everything else will be blue now, as nothing else on the truck is red.

There it is in all it's glory. Said a little prayer when I got it done.

Wasnt leaving anything to chance on those back corners, went extra heavy there.

This spot on the front halfmoon was a little light after torquing down so I smushed some more in there.

Final product of the blue elbow.

Different lighting angles makes it much darker deeper red, or brighter candy apple almost.

This turned out awesome as well!

For tomorrow, Im going to get the oil cooler re-assembled and back on, do some more cleaning and hopefully get the dang thing back up-right. Then back to the paint booth. The Mrs. will sure be happy when thats over with. "THE WHOLE HOUSE SMELLS LIKE PAINT". Nothing like having the garage doors wide open, windows open and attic fan running in January in ohio!

I grew up in Sandusky, This is about the time of year the ice breakers would be working to keep the shipping channels open, and we would be getting ready to drive out on the bay for ice fishing. Nothing better eating than lake Erie yellow perch! I do not miss Ohio, winter along the Great Lakes is a BITCH!

Yeah I live "just outside" of the snow belt so its not too bad, we dont get all the wind.

Made a little more progress. Coolant filtration system, hpop res spacer and gaskets should be arriving any day now from riffraff. Got some more paint done, and the oil cooler re-assembled and put on, and man I do not ever remember them going together that hard. Took a few attempts with the ratchet strap, and 1 solid whack to the back of my hand with the mallet and she popped back together (I was swinging for the fences too, because I had just jacked up my sweet paint job!).

Getting my order for the snuggletough saginaw p-pump bracket together. Trying to figure out part numbers on rockauto for the other PS and hyrdroboost hoses I need. Want to replace all of the hoses in that system. Does anyone have the numbers off hand? If not ill search them up in the morning while having my coffee. Should be able to get that order in and the bluetop order in. Hopefully have enough left over for the KC balanced assembly, but if not, I am definitely atleast going with a new billet wheel. Stuff adds up real quick.

Going to knock out the oil gallery plugs, banjo o rings and a few other things, and get the VC's back on tomorrow. Then begin going through the harness and re looming and taping everything, try and get that all cleaned up and ready to rock and roll.

With any luck we'll start putting it back in next weekend or the following week. Here's some sweet paint pics. Still need to do the 42pin connector bracket and thinking about cleaning up and doing the AC compressor bracket. But giving the wife a break from the fumes for a few days!

For some reason, I had a few spots where the pain would just not cover the base, may have been dirty or oil.

Battle scars, however I may have come out of it worse off.

Little paint goes a long way aesthetically.

Looks good.

The hose you need for the saginaw pump is edelmann 91466. For the return line from the hydro booster to back of pump reservoir I used a factory return line off a 08 f250 I had on a parts truck. Had to cut a little bit off one end and it fit perfect. All the other lines you should just need factory ones for the truck if you want to replace the.

Yep was just going to get all the edelmann ones off rockauto and just pay for shipping once. Unless this is another situation where I "have" to go motorcraft .......and I hope not

Could probably get away with not swapping them all, but if I got edelmann they seem cheap enough (maybe theres a reason for that), plus wanting to switch to a synthetic ATF, would like to just have all new fresh stuff in there. Maybe I'll just leave it alone.

I put 2 edelmann hoses on mine when I did my swap and got about 1500 miles on it now and no issues.

Alright, awesome. What fluid are you running? Regular mercon v or whatever it is, is becoming very hard to come by where i'm at without ordering it. Was thinking of some off the shelf parts store synthetic ATF. Ill have to read about the pump to see what all is compatible I reckon.

I used valvoline dexron full synthetic from advance auto. Got a gallon of it and it was plenty.
