That was my thought too...like an override on important sensors until they should be up and running....then when it looks for it after a "X amount of time" it throws to it...ready or not....I have some ideas today...Thanks!

There must be a default pcm setting to get the engine going and then once pressures built up it reads off a sensor, which is obviously not on its A game if it does that each time you start it.
Military GenSets are equipped with some equipment saving shutdowns like low oil pressure. During it's start up it overrides low oil pressure for a few seconds then it checks for the pressure...if it's to low it will shut down...What you are saying is the same basic thing...it looks for a sensor reading that should be up to par after the start and run for a few seconds but it's either not there or faulted.
I have a CALI model while putting on the new harness and bowl I didn't see any left over wires for connecting or anything...could I be missing something due to being Cali?...
m'm getting nervous now...

I threw a HAIL MARY ICP at it with no new results. It seems it's getting better?????? the CLACK comes in intervals....I let it run and with a STOP WATCH I found the truck runs 'normal' for 9 seconds then 'CLACKS' for 14 seconds then back to normal for 9...then 14 and so on and so on.
still scratching my head

And the oil levels good in pan and hpop reservoir?

Tin nuts on goot-n-tite?

Checked the icp on the front of the drivers head? They can go bad and let oil seep thru sensor to electronics side.

Also, should be able tonubpkug that sensor and letat run. Engine will set hpop to a preset level.

I really should start a new thread but I've replaced the wire harness and fuel bowl, all the sensors ICP/IPR...tin nut is set and the oil is about half" from the top...I am interested in when you say "Also, should be able tonubpkug that sensor and letat run. Engine will set hpop to a preset level"...What is that? are they typos I'm not connecting?...I am little lost...I want to try what ever that it...Thanks!

I replaced ALL sensors...

Yeah they were typos.

The icp sensor on top of the front drivers head. If you unplug that the engine should run with a preset hpop value. Also, if you notice oil inside the plugs connector then the sensor is bad by allowing oil to get into the electric parts

I think I do have a way to look at LIVE DATA...I'm asking what points I should note when I scan...can you look here?: Cali w/new main harness + bowl runs smooth/ROUGH/smooth - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums (ford-trucks.com) Thanks!
and I think PROGRESS is GOOD! Thanks!

What's the opposite of PROgress?
CONgress!
