So are you able to lock in now? , I wouldn't expect the truck for several months.

My credit score is north of 840, and don't think I could get one that low what rates are now.

it took some negotiating but you'd be surprised what you can get. My dad pays 3% on his 2024 platinum f250. Waiting for it to arrive. We also know people and its a small town. So we can kinda negotiate, everybody loves free cookies at the next church bake sale 😂

Edit didn't see the guys post. I redact my statement lol. That's a little high but probably an optioned crew cab long bed. The XL models do have alot of features standard tbh.

It does say it has about 20k in options. So you could definitely get a nice crew cab in the 55k area. Do you really need the stx appearance package? A sunroof? Heated seats? Do you really need a full length console? Do you really need power folding and telescopic mirrors? Do you really need a power sliding rear glass?

All the above for me are no.

I don't need my butt to be massaged while I'm driving down the road. Or heated or cooled. And I don't need 2 pig peices of glass over my head when I'm driving. And I DEFINITELY don't need a 360 backup camera. I can already see 360 degrees around the truck. Directly. By rotating my head and eyeballs to my mirrors.

I just want a truck I can get in it. Sit my butt on the standard seat. Tow what I need to. Play some music off my phone, and i dont have to caveman the windows to light a cigar.

XL fit the bull just fine. I can tint the windows ans add any extras myself. I work for LineX so I can add my own soray in bedliner for probably around $250 and it will last 10+ years. I can order a tool box through my work too because we also install truck accessories at our shop. I can tint the windows self, I used to tint windows as a side hustle when I was younger and I got really good at it. I can wire my own speakers if I wanna have some truck boxes behind the seat. And I can install my own leveling kit, wheels and tires, and I can do my own exhaust at the shop I work at with out brand new welder and the shop lift. And I'm a certified welder too.

I don't understand people that spend 100k on a truck like that. It just seems pointless to me. If I had millions to blow sure. But people are financing these at 10%+ interest rates, and they freaking pay them. Basically their down payment is the entire interest on the truck. Plus the cost to insure a higher trim diesel truck has got to be ridiculous even if your older then 25.

I'll never buy another new truck, this is my first and last. I like the body style. XL suits me fine. It will do everything i need. And I have a feeling in the coming future, single cabs will be sought after like old crew cabs are sought after now. I could be wrong. But like 90% of all trucks now are crew cab. I don't see any single cab super duty trucks that don't have a company name on the door. So those trucks will be beat to peices by the time they are non cpo, or become classic cars.

Just how I see it anyways. I could be 100% wrong. Who knows

honestly not ready for a house. I still live with my parents and while my credit score is good (above 700 but not above 750) i would like to build it above 800 or atleast very close before i finance a house. I make enough to finance this truck but I'd rather wait on the house. I have to actually make it to work, not in a 323,000 mile f150 that breaks every month to some random bs, before I can afford the house 😂

You need 735 to get a prime home mortgage rate. Anything above that helps on other consumer debt.

These guys are right though, get the house first because that truck payment will count against your mortgage payment ability. Right now is a good time to buy a house.

But realistically you said you aren’t ready, so just dont take on too much consumer debt if you think that is in your near future.

As far as the options on the truck. If you can swing it the cameras and upfitter switches are a good bargain and almost impossible to retrofit if it didnt come with it. The collision warning is too.

The cameras and collision warning are good investments.

What makes you say that? I would think a good time would be when prices decline more than they have and/or rates drop. At least in my part of the country that hasn't happened yet. We saw rapid increases in housing prices for several years with only a slight decline as interest rates rose. I'm not even remotely an expert but I could see pricing dropping a lot more than it has in the not so distant future.

Yeah, housing prices have doubled or more in the past 4 years, and then add 8% interest on that as well for a mortgage….no way this is a good time to buy.

This is the bottom as there is going to be 6 interest rate decreases in the next year running up to the elections.

At that time you will see another surge in pricing as people will and need to enter the market.

There is also a shortage.

Buy now refinance later.

actually as a first time home owner, if I buy a loan, every 20-25 in car loans can qualify me for 5-10k off my home loan. And I live in SC so there are still decent houses in the $100,000 range. Or I'll just buy land and live out of my motorhome while I build my house. Many ways to skin the cat!

Tacked on a couple options came out to 51,000
wheel well liners and upfitter switches.

Still havent finalized the order. Might wait until around march or april, when the dealerships have the most discounts and rebates going on. I already have an idea on insurance rates and interest rates. And i make enough to pay a decent chunk of capital and put back in savings still.

Just a little update, wheels and tires and leveling kit are in, got an update from the dealership, build hasn't started yet but the factory has the order and is "preparing" to start the build. Whatever that means lol.

That's where we stand right now. Looking at March or April. For an XL truck 🤔

to answer your question, yes. My f450 is a work truck, but when I built it in 22, with the discount I got, it was only $10,000 mote for a lariat, rapid red/stone grey, fx4, interior upgrades, etc over a reg cab XL f450. For 10k, It wasn't worth it for the reg cab, I will get that plus more back iut at resale over the regular cab. I would actually loose money over the 2-3 total years I plan on keeping it if I bought the XL reg cab. I could sell my f450 today with it almost 2 years old and 30k miles and make atleaet 8k, order a new f450 and get into another lariat for same cost or 4-5k boot. With the XL reg cab I would ve selling for a loss as it less desirable, and have to come up with a large portion for a new one.

A 23 f450 ccLB XL msrp is the same now as my 79k lariat msrp.

The key to it is always get a new one every couple years.
