I cannot get my 2024 homelink to program at all. Is there a trick? What has changed since the last gen? Have had no trouble programming my other vehicles to multiple garages and gates. I’ve tried and tried on this one and no luck. Really frustrating to have a brand new vehicle that won’t open the garage door so I have to carry around a bunch of extra remotes and the three homelink buttons are just for decoration.
I tried several times on my 2019 and I never could get it to work. My corvette was easy, not this truck so I carry the opener in the truck or open it with my phone.
I am assuming you reset your homelink to clear any existing codes. Pressing and holding the two outer buttons.
Could program mine today....it's not brand new...and finally reset it and all worked.
Got it. I was using an aftermarket remote to try and program. Haven’t used this remote before to program homelink. I noticed in trying to program the light on the aftermarket remote wasn’t flashing fast like with a brand name remote. I found one of the original chamberlain remotes noticed it flashed fast tried that instead and was able to program within a few seconds to minutes.
I’m glad I wasn’t the only one having issues. I was able to get one of mine to program using the learn button on the opener. But when I did it deprogrammed the other remotes I had. That’s fine because it’s just for the pole barn. But as of now I have to carry one for the house garage. I don’t have any originals for that opener. I’m planning on just replacing the openers to one that I can use the internet (phone) to open. That’s more handy anyway if I want to open the door when I’m not home which has come in handy in the past.
I had to replace the regular LED light bulbs in my garage door openers with ones which don’t interfere with the signal… you can find them on Amazon. Problem solved!
I have used this procedure to program every Ford truck Homelink. It assumes you have already performed the erase or clear function on the Homelink unit.
1. Start with the garage door closed. Stage a ladder or stool at the garage door opener if you need it to reach the "Learn" button on it.
2. Turn on the ignition without starting.
3. In the truck press the HomeLink UGD opener button you want to program and release. The HomeLink indicator on the UGD opener will now start blinking slowly.
4. Hold the remote transmitter for the garage door 1”-3" from the HomeLink UGD opener. Without touching the UGD opener HomeLink button, press and hold the Open button on the remote transmitter for the garage door until the light on the HomeLink UGD opener starts blinking fast. Note: During this step the garage door will begin to open.
These next steps must be completed within 30 seconds:
5. Go to the garage door opener and momentarily press and release the “Learn” or “Smart” button. Do NOT press and hold the “Learn” or “Smart” button as this will delete all previously programmed garage door remotes.
6. Go back to the vehicle and press the button on the HomeLink UGD opener you previously selected and release. Press the same button again and the garage door should start moving.
7. Turn off the ignition.
Note: It is suggested to replace the battery in the remote transmitter for the garage door prior to beginning the programming procedure.
Think home link is fun? Try the "lear car to u universal remote control" I have seen in Canadian assembled fords and gm's.
Have also seen cheap genie/over head door compatible remotes that have issues with home link.
p.s. I think home link is owned by chamberlain.
I was having problems as well. I finally got it to work by resetting home link on the truck then learning the code from the remote and then hitting learn on the garage door and following that up by pressing the home link one more time. Garage door worked after that.
