Hello everyone. I've posted various projects of this truck after owning it for 4 years now and she has 198K on her clock. 4 years of repairs and replacing parts, I'd like to share the results so far. The interior is pretty much finished. I will. say after getting the interior in near-new condition, it has increased my excitement tremendously. As far as the outside, well that's next. There are some new, very difficult to find rubber parts. Even some new rubber for under the hood including a new OEM hood insulation pad. The very next project will be LineX on the roof color matched to the body. Enough of my gibberish and here's a few pictures...
She is really looking great, I love the black carpet, it really shows off the rest of the interior. Going to start a refresh of my 03 Ex which I bought new, 78k on her, started with the led interior upgrade, next is a complete new front end including shocks, wheel bearing, ball joints and everything else that goes with it. Parts are arriving daily. Good luck on your next project!
Very clean, was the steering wheel redone? I need mine done
yes I had an auto upholstery shop do it. The color is a slight shade off but to see it you have to look real close. The stitching is what makes it so nice. Thank you.

Beautiful! It looks like it belongs in a museum. You should be very proud of that rig and the effort put into it.
Im humbled by your words. Thank you.
This week the aftermarket hood pad is coming off, the engine and hood get steam cleaned, and a new Ford OEM hood pad installed.
Here’s what it looks like today after oil leaks were fixed and now it needs a good cleaning.
Looks good! I am in the process of restoring mine as well, I bought her with 230K miles.. I have the interior completely out and when it goes back in the next month or so, it will be new also, plus quieter.
Where did you get the hood insulator and what part number you use?
The Hood Insulator Pad part number - 3C3Z-16738-BD
They had 3 at Galpin Ford in Van Nuys, CA. If you can avoid shipping and find it locally, you will save a ton in shipping. Many dealer won't ship them because of their size.
I just removed the aftermarket one today. Well to be honest, I had a friend do it for me . He's helped me do most of the work on this truck.
Ordered an Edge A-pillar mount (EDG0064204) for my Garmin GPS today. Gets it off the windshield from those crappy suction mounts to the windshield. I was replacing those about every 8-12 months. With the temperature changes, they always fall off. No more!
Next is having the engine steam cleaned before Saturday so I can install the Second Skin butyl rubber to the hood sheet metal, then the new OEM hood pad. After removing the aftermarket pad it sure is louder in the cab from engine noise. I expect there to be a pretty good sound improvement with the butyl rubber and hood pad. More pictures coming as the process progresses.
My pad is still there but is looking a bit worse for the wear. Going to do that along with sound matte as well at some point. Going to pull, clean and sound mat the interior first though most likely
Had the engine cleaned this morning and I asked to have the hood underside cleaned, no chemicals or dressing. When the detailer arrived I started the engine to show it runs. Looking under the hood after shutting her down, the upper radiator hose was collapsed, "WTF?". Did a little research and it turns out being a defective radiator cap. A quick trip to the local big brand parts house had one in 2 hrs. Then drove about 50 miles to get a LineX quote for the roof, and wow, that engine is loud without the pad. Tomorrow the Second Skin will be applied to the sheet metal then Saturday I drive another 50 miles to pick up the oem hood pad. I'm curious to see what the incremental improvement will be.
