If I did not have bad luck, I would not have any luck at all it seems... Yesterday I received an email from my bank telling me I was overdrawn. After checking my account online, I find two charges from Walmart for gift cards on December 4th that I don't recognize. I know I bought gift cards, but I only but three $50.00 gift cards because of the problems with the $100 gift cards not working. As near as I can tell, they charged me for the three, but they also charged me for two $100 gift cards, and another $50 gift card. So, I disputed it with the bank and went to Walmart to dispute it with them. I should hear back from both in a couple of days.
The Optima Battery in the pickup now needs a jump every time I start it. This one only lasted about 18 months. I ordered an AGM battery from ACDelco. It was a tough decision. The Ford MotorCraft flooded lead acid battery has 850 CCA. ACDelco AGM has 775. What sealed the deal was that Amazon doesn't apply a core charge or HazMat fees. Now my Ford will have a Chevy battery along with the Chevy wipers.
A Chevy battery in a Ford?!? Say it ain't so Joe! Walmart called last night to tell me they owe me $210. I'll go down today and pick it up then head to the bank to deposit it. Then call the bank and inform them.
We just put new wipers on both trucks; the old ones were getting stiff, and the rain season is upon us. This time we got RainX wipers. They were pricey ($80 per pair), but they sure work well.
Wow. $80 per pair! That's outrageous. I can only imagine that they are beam style and long. On the van, the wipers are 29", and go for upwards of $30 each. But I can get by with 28" wipers which cost much less. I believe that most cars use beam wipers now. Only old cars like my truck and Jim's truck, use conventional wipers. And even with the truck, there's no problem with using a modern beam wipers. Just more expensive.
Rain-X are some of the best wipers. The cost being a factor, I no longer buy them. Less expensive wipers still work. Wiper technology isn't what it was back 50 years ago. The one thing that is a factor for me is longevity. Even expensive wipers degrade from being in the all day, every day. Even the most expensive wipers can break apart within a year.
It's not sustainable, but I just use cheap wipers and change them as needed. I recently bought a bunch for the truck and the van. It was something crazy like 5 pairs of cheap wipers compared to 1 expensive pair.
Calling the President to complain about the weather? Let me know how that works out for you.
Stopped by the repair shop yesterday, they told me they will start working on my truck Tuesday of next week. He originally said Monday, but I remined him it was New Year's day. I told him I would stop by on Tuesday.
Found out some interesting news yesterday. According to WalletHub, Fresno leads the nation in homelessness. And is ranked third in the nation of "needy cities" Surpassed only by Detroit and a city in Texas that I can't remember. Starts with a B like Brownsville, or Burroughs or something. When I was at the bank depositing the Walmart refund money, the person at the teller next to me was complaining about trying to get into an apartment but everyone wants an income of three times the rent amount. As is it is everywhere in California rent is out of control. I am on section 8 and have been in my current apartment for 7 years now, and my rent is now up to $785, but the rates are over $1,300. That would mean you have to make at least $3,600 a month in order to move in here. That is ridiculous. I have not been thinking about moving any time soon anyway, but with the current situation I am stuck here unless I win the lotto and I don't play the lotto so there is no chance of me winning that.
I don't even know if my wipers need replacing. That is one thing I did not check when I bought it. However, given that it sat outside for a long time, I would be willing to bet they do. I buy the cheapest ones I can find at O'Rielly and use them until the next year.
True but In-N-Out Burger pays more than other fast-food places. I remember when I was working at Wienerschnitzel, there was an In-N-Out Burger right down the street from it. I made $7.50 an hour back then, they were paying $13.65 an hour. I applied there, but did not get hired, so I stayed with Wienerschnitzel until my disability accident happened. I can only imagine what they are paying now. In April when Mc Donalds has to pay their employees $20 an hour, I would be willing to bet In-N-Out will be at $30 an hour. I remember my first job after getting out of the USAF was a security job, and I made a grand total of $6.35 an hour. Times have sure changed.
On a different note. I applied for a "guaranteed loan of $3,500" And after giving them my pertinent info, I received an offer of $1,000. I looked at the loan terms, and if I pay it off on time, will have paid back $5,148 on a $1,000 loan. That is not going to happen. I don't need the money that bad. Besides, I am still paying that SNAP loan back that has a "loan shark" interest rate of $1,500 for a $1,200 loan. This is much worse. And of course, in the span of 10 minutes, I have received another six people telling me I am approved for their loans. Oops, seven now. Unreal. LOL
Pricing and availability changes without notice. I suspect that wipers cost more during rainfall. They are probably cheaper during the summer. If you're not picky, then all that you really need are 20" wipers, with a universal mounting set that will fit a J-Hook. The original factory wipers were the old style with a frame and rubber strip. Current wipers are beam type. Both will work fine. RockAuto, Wal*Mart, Pep Boys, O'Reilly's, et cetera are all fairly comparable. Try walking into a Federated Auto distributor and see if they will sell to you. I've had pretty good luck with buying from the distributors and getting lower pricing.
