Attacked the bed with grinder and sawzaw mostly rust. Front panel and bed support flawless? Everything else rusted away to nothing. Frame better than I was expecting. Springs and hangers are junk, some thin spots over axle. Both crossmember supports thin on bottom.
Received the marti report today, definitely explains the rust. Looks like it was sold new in Buffalo NY.
First Canadian Ford I have acquired. My 79 and 69 Are Norfolk trucks, my 68 San Jose/Kansas City, 76 and 78 bronco Michigan.
I was going to use springs and hangers from 68 parts truck on 71 frame. Considering just cutting off the frame behind crossmember and welding it together.
The 2wd frame is same width just one inch shorter. Will be easy enough to make transition from 7in to 6in c on frame. This truck is never going to be any where near perfect. Just decent enough to drive around and be safe.
