My 01 Excursion is starting to sag badly even with the Roadmaster RAS system on it. About 10yrs ago I went with X-codes up front and I believe stock rear springs( 1c345 BA) with blocks in the rear.
That was 200K miles ago, Im at 400K miles total.
I don't drive me EX like I use to and when I do I'm almost always towing a 20' trailer with either my Jeep or tractor on it. I'm wondering if there is a better spring I could replace the rears
and get rid of the blocks in the rear and still be somewhat level with the front X-codes(which are getting old as well).
If there is a shop nearby that can add an additional leaf that may be all that is needed. Rear sag is a common problem with Toyota mini trucks and their Forerunner SUV vehicles and adding a leaf to the pack is all that is required to fix the problem.
Yes I would probably drop the blocks and put in the correct leafs to match. If that wont work the best is airbags. I just did them on my ex for like 400 bucks shipped on amazon. really simple to install for the most part. Took me 4hrs there are 4 total bolts that are not fun to get in. Either than that it was simple.
So I decided to go ahead and do it right. I spoke with Junior at ATS Springs and we went with Mod C code "Xtreme" duty rear springs in the rear as I already have x-codes upfront.
I was able to get rid of the blocks -I had them installed yesterday and the Ex looks like it could now handle the weight of a house back there! There is actually a slight rake from back to front but I think
it will level out over time as the new rear springs settle in. I rarely drive the EX anymore unless I am towing a trailer anyway.
