ok back story, one day traveling down interstate 5 my left front leaf spring broke.
about a week later the right side broke in the same fashion....
at which point i said screw it im lifting the truck ( i was going to anyways but not this soon). my master plan was 4" springs and block accordingly in the rear. well four wheel parts couldn't get me the pro comp springs for 2 months. so i inserted another screw it and went for a 6.5" front spring instead.
buddy of mine had 4" blocks that i could have, and while in conversation he insisted that his stock 01' excursion springs should give me the last little bit of lift for the truck to sit level. his theory was his EX is basically a f350 in suspension and the ex also weighs more in the rear and i should get the last 2" in the rear for a leveled stance... i should of took the blocks and ran. after all the work i got all the springs swapped out and lo and behold the rear sits lower.
i kept my stock rear springs just in case...
im still learning how these super duty mods and what not work so here is my question...
in the rear what are some choices i have? reinstall my stock rear leafs and put in a 4" block PLUS my stock 250 block? orr do i get some 6" blocks and ditch my oem block? orr maybe another choice is ditch the blocks all together and since im swapping springs anyways just swap in the appropriate rear spring to complement my front pro comp 6.5" springs.
extra info: i use my truck as a daily driver, i work in construction so i do use the truck to haul various trailers, bed full of lumber, etc my thought was to go leveled if not a touch of stock like rake for the days when the bed gets loaded down or i throw a trailer on the ball.
in treys case thats not soo bad, its the 6" of lift from 3 sets of 2" blocks or 12" of lift from stack of 2", 4", 6" blocks that are real sketchy ones.
since you haul id put the four inch block with your stock springs and install a add a leaf in the rear. And you want a long add a leaf, it rides so much better and holds alot more weight
i had a long add a leaf made from a local spring shop and i love it! Truck holds weight ten times better, it handles much better now and the ride is just as good if not better then stock
