My F250 with an engine build date end of March 03 has 11k miles. At 150 miles or my 2nd day there was a hesitation problem that the dealer fixed, said it was debris in the turbo charger. At 5k miles the dealer did the first service. I changed the oil at 10k. But now as the weather is getting a little cooler I am getting a romp at start-up. This only is happening for maybe 20 seconds. Also under a hard acceleration there is plenty of black smoke. The truck runs great and I’m averaging 17.5mpg Should I take it in for the latest flash?
No problem guy's. I have done this job for 19 years and take it seriously. My job is to literally be an advisor. I try to look out for my client's whenever I can. You just have to take the first step and ask the question....
Andy - What's comming the first quater of 04 ? A newer flash ?
I've had my truck flashed recently (4 days ago) and noticed a louder engine (I can deal with that, in fact, I like it louder ) and the gas millage is about the same, if not somewhat less than before. Hopefully the new reflash will resove some of these issues.
The latest and greatest flash will address loud engine, poor mileage, etc. per my Ford field service engineer.......due out sometime in mid spring=feb-mar
Also reportedly they are working on a resolution for the injector issues...make sure all of you keep a close eye on oil level as thats the first sign of injector leakage......
I had my truck flashed last week and I actually think it sounds the same if not quieter. It has more of a muffled sound and on start up it doesn't have that brrrr ep ep sound and no more ruff idle on cold starts. Haven't checked the gas milage yet but I put about 100 miles on it and took an 80 mile round trip and it ran great.

Andy talk in detail to your above statement. Will oil level rise or what??
Hey Andy, can you explain why the new flash has made alot of 6.0's worse, why would one be different then the other? I can see a few maybe but not alot. I'm from Nevada and I've yet to find one 6.0 owner with any major issues.
