I had my truck flashed three weeks ago, milage dropped to 11 mpg, I now have a vibration at idle and at 1500 - 2000 rpm also feels like low end power has dropped. I loved my truck befor the flash now I wish I kept my 2001.

Please excuse my ignorance. What is flash?

I have a 2003 F250 and my mileage is 10mpg. It sucks diesel.

Love everything except the fuel economy. The dealer doesn't know what to say about it.

A flash is a computer program for the fuel injection/emmisions system. When these trucks (6.0's) hit the streets for the first time every thing was happy. All of a sudden Ford started getting reports of poor idle quality, stalls for no apparent reason, etc. The first thing they tried for repair was a reflash. WRONG!!! The injectors they were using were junk. Read this as injector supplier in big trouble...About 1 out of 5 were bad. So they started replacing injectors. Still messed up cuz of the new program. So they started trying to work back to the original programmimg, harder than it sounds with the new parts.....
Story in a nutshell......

When injectors fail they leak fuel, the fuel goes into the crankcase and the oil level rises...

Build date can be found on the drivers door info sticker at top...

another milage check in.
i have run two full tanks of fuel thru my beast since the flash (well, four...but extended idling, and off roading messed up results). on these two, they are the average that i get from a 100mi/day commute on mountain roads, at huge elevation changes.
first tank, over 17. second, over 17.
also, i drive it like its a stang still....i have had 14 of those, and it is a hard habbit to break!

anyhoo, new flash got me WELL OVER 1.5mpg on average. not to mention, i let my truck idle in the morning for ~8-10 mins now, and i used to only let it idle for 2-3 before flash. (its colder now)

anyhoo, i say flash away.

If your not having any problem, other then major break downs, leave it alone, I have had both new programs installed, and the newest version did help some of the troubles, now once you get to drive 4th or 5th and hit the fuel peddleit is like driving a 4 cylinder car no power, it's like no vacumme advance, really bad when towing 5th wheel and mileage went back down.
If it's working do not let them flash it. ROB

jus had mine in for initial oil change at 3500 mi. Took delivery on Oct. 31 03. The service advisor said Ford ordered a reflash and they were gonna do it no mater what I said. That was this morning and driving home again all seems well. Build date on motor June 30 03 and running great.
