Well, now that you mention it, I guess I don't have a picture! I guess I should fix that. I'll take one this weekend and post it.

I have the October reflash. I just took a 540 mile trip and got 18.5 mpg driving 55-75mph. I have 4X4 CC. Only issue I have with the reflash is vibration at idle is very noticable.

Appreicate all the info / discussion here. For Andy, any guess as to how many of the flash, injector problems I'll have in my F350 (build date should be week of 1 DEC 2003). Or have all the "bad" injectors been purged from stock and the correct flash identified for a new 6.0??? I'm getting really jumpy....only 2 weeks to delivery (I hope)! Thanks

Injector ID, hopefully

Tim,
Found this from <!-- Joe Kiess.--> The Diesel Dude I assume it is correct, as he had also given a date on this board, that fairly corresponds to the engine number that was given.

You can tell by engine serial number.

I got this from another board from <!-- Joe Kiess --> The Diesel Dude, who works at Indy. This is the starting engine serial number for 6.0's with the C95 injectors.

The official number is 6068440 but I checked the computer and there were several engines built between 6068440 and 6068453 that had the C94 injectors. So I would say that the first good engine is 6068453, built 4/11/03.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I guess that could be checked, just by checking your injectors against the engine serial number. I just squeaked in, as my engine build was 04/15/03 and the engine number was 607XXX, can't remeber exactly, but it is definately later than the reference above.

Tim, unfortunately, it appears that your 3/18 engine build will have the C94 injectors. I suppose that doesn't mean anything, unless you really have problems. Anyway, I still have a chance of having a problem, as the C95, have a 1 in 100 chance of failure, while the C 94's were 1 in 10. Hope yours are from 1 to nine in the series.

great reading.. i now think i have the injector problem.. i just returned from a 1600 mile trip.. and on the way home it started idling rough.. really rough... will see how it goes today..

but from the above mentioned information.. i have an engine build date of 12/02..... with the c-94 injectors...

i just turned over 7000 miles on it.. and up until last night it was running great.. also seems that my MPG has dropped since this rough idle... was getting just over 18 running about 70mph..
last tank of fuel it dropped to just over 15mpg... this was figured by hand....

thanks guys.. if it continues to run like crap.. ill be in to see the dealer on monday...

Lariat thanks,

I am sure confused about all this stuff, (big encompassing word “stuff”) I world like to know a definitive answers, this is what these injectors will do; this is how they will feel when going bad. of course maybe they just crap out and that is it, dead beside the road.

Mine has run great, only 2432 miles on it and the only time it gets driven is when the trailer is hooked up……….horrible time to fail for anything, not that there is a good time!

I duno……..another big word…….I don’t want to wait and see, but I do not see a lot of other possibilities.

Andy this one is for you, if I took the truck in and said replace the injectors what could they say?
They ask me if I have the 1 to 9.......haha

I've asked more than once that a certain person's name not be used here. He lost his job as a result of his participation here and almost lost his retirement benefits (he was less than a year from retirement). His wife even asked you guys to stop it.

Please show this man a little respect for his privacy, and a little decency for what's happened to the him. If you can't you'll need to discuss his somewhere other than FTE.

I am very lost by your statement. I do not know who you are talking about, I can only hope those who are in the know.....................know.
If I have in any way contributed to this problem, I am truly sorry.

When you have a bad injector it will leak fuel into the crankcase causing your oil level to rise.... it will also cause a miss in the engine....

Could it be an intermittent miss, could it be very negligible. Almost hard to detect or feel in the seat of the pants kind of thing. Now the oil rising, could that cause foaming and ultimately hydro lock motor?
