This isnt that big of a deal as winter is approaching quickly. But this summer I would like to have cool air The actual post of the switch spins completely freely so I know the switch needs to be replaced. My question is this. Do I have to replace the entire unit (all three switches) or can the 1 switch be replaced by itself? This is in a 93 F-250 XLT.
mine just started doing it this weekend. the switch doesn't seem as tight as it use to be. i have to take my dash apart this weekend to fix my heater core but if you find anything on the switch let me know.
your switch should be fine. if you're going to do it yourself, you might as well take a look first and see if the cable is loose. i had that problem with my taurus and after starting to take the dash apart, i took it to a shop where they told me some drama about what was broke and they needed to buy 'the assembly' (3 parts) and it was worth the money to have someone else do it instead. it shouldn't cost you more than $60 and spare you a big headache. if taking the dash apart is no problem for you, bust it open and take a look (its assembly is very basic)
Originally posted by TAMU05 i have to take my dash apart anyways, the smell of coolent is getting on my nerves. but i will check the cable out too. thanks for the info.
what will really get on your nerves is when you waited too long and a light in your dash tells you that you've waited too long...i know from experience
good luck. you should be able to fix it yourself. i'd have some crazy glue handy for that day if you have any.
i'm glad i picked up a new blend door actuator before i put my dash back together after i installed my heater core. i was getting ready to call it quits for the night and my flashlight hit it and i remembered that i had to change that, i would have been so mad if i put my whole dash back together without doing that.
