my high beam switch works if I hold the switch in the forward position, but it won't stay on when I let go. Has anyone had this issue and is there a fix without having to replace the switch?
what setting is your low beam switch in? If it's in auto, I think it won't hold high-beam until it senses darkness. So if you put it in manual low-beam "on" position, does that help?
woo hoooooo. Yes this helps, so it not broken after all! I was figuring on a $300. switch and another few hundred labour.
I was not aware that hi-beam would not work in the automatic position. Perhaps it was due to the fact I was on a long trip, started the truck just before dusk with the headlight switch in the auto position. Over the next hour, it got fully dark and the hi beams would not stay engaged. Just tried them in daylight in the manual position and they work fine.
Too much "smart" electronics. Thanks4the help!
If you start your trip in daylight and it gets dark while driving, the high beams won't work unless you switch off the ignition, and back on in the "new" darkness.
Apparently if you start off in daylight, the computer says you can't use the high beams for the duration of the trip...it thinks it is still daylight and doesn't recognize the darkening condition...keeps the high beams disabled.
If I start my trip in the dark, no problem using the high beams. Weird or what?
Not sure if this is a defect or a feature, but this is how mine is behaving.
