Cruise Control just quite working

So the other day, my cruise control in my 1996 f-150 decided to quit working while I was driving down the road. When it quit working I heard a slight pop or thud, so I reengaged the cruise control and it worked for a little while and then I heard that pop or thud again and now it doesn’t work at all, not sure if the pop had anything to do with my problem, but I thought I just mentioned it. So far I have verified that it has the recall wiring harness and the fuse is good and the switch is not leaking I checked the main fuse and it’s good. I have replaced the bulb in the third stop light because it was burned out and verified It was not a halogen bulb. I also replaced the bulb in the cab for the overhead lighting being It was also burned out not sure if that had anything to do with the problem.

Try pulling up on the brake pedal when you engage cruise.
