Door Hinge Suggestions

My freshly a50cquired 1994 F150 is in need of an upper door hinge on the driver side. When it comes to it, the lower probably should be replaced as well. I bought a cheap Dorman pin and bushing kit for the upper, figured out the bushing hole in the hinge is actually wallered out. A new hinge from Ford is $100+. LMC has them for $30. Anyone have experience with aftermarket hinge assemblies? Complete Performance has an "aftermarket hinge", but it is as much as the Ford units. I have looked at their EnduraPin kit, but with the damage to my actual hinge assembly, I don't know how well it would work. I bought the truck from a friend of mine, who owns a body shop. He suggested possibly just drilling the holes oversize and putting a bolt and lock nut. He said that is what he has done for years on 88-98 Chevy pickups when they finally waller out the bushing hole, since hinge replacement is not an option for them. Is there a kit that comes with an oversized quality bushing? I am much less experienced with Fords than GMs, so not sure on the best route here. Thanks for the help!

The Dorman kit has always worked just fine for me.

For a complete hinge or just pins and bushings?

I grab a (junkyard) used OEM lower hinge from the passenger side since they are usually still good. As for the upper, I don’t remember what brand I got for the F-150 and Bronco II but it has worked good. I might be able to find the receipt. Are the spring and roller still good? In the past I tried the roller repair kit which didn’t work so that got tossed in the trash. I have never had any luck with hinge pin kits. I always replace the whole hinge.

The roller is still present, but the spring has left the country. I think I am going to go with the bolt route for a temporary fix. Right now is my busiest time of year, so I don't have time to run around looking for a good used hinges. Just need the door functional for right now.

That would be a waste of time. Why replace the pin when the spring that holds the door open is also broken? Replace the whole assembly and be done with it.

Well, I bolted the hinge for the time being. Quick fix, I know. I need to do the lower as well...If I am going to the trouble of replacing the hinges, I want to use quality hinges, and OEM are over 100 bucks each. Just found out Momma's Buick needs $500 worth of tires ASAP, so vehicle repair funds will be diverted that direction for right now. The pickup is just a beater for us right now, so hinges have to wait, but the door still needs to open and close. I am not sure about the lower yet, but the upper was trash, the top bushing just fell in the hole was wore so badly. Sometimes you just have to make do!
