1977 Highboy engine question
I bought a 1977 F250 4x4 Ranger XLT
It came with what the guy said is a 390, definitely an FE (ribbed block) 68-352 cast into head.
the vin has H designated for the engine- mfg date is 12/76, according to the chart for decoding the vin it would be a 351m correct? It says the 390 did not come as an option from the factory on 4 wheel drive? Trying to figure out if the engine was swapped in at some point or what… motor mounts and everything look factory wouldn’t they be different?
this truck has A/C power disk brakes and steering along with the manual 4 speed and the newer style (no big knuckle) front end.

Intake extends under the valve covers… ok guessing this engine was swapped in. 👍🏻 Thank you.
is the flywheel interchangeable by chance for FE and the 351/400m series engines?
The plan is to put my solid 2wd 77 body on it- it has a great running 351m with an auto.
id just have to find the right bell-housing. I’m going to restore the running gear first before moving anything around.
