Hey guys, I have a 1979 F150 4X4. I was told that it had a 351 Cleveland when I got it but according to the vin# code it has a 390 CID. The reason I was wondering is that I changed the alt. and the voltage light is still on. And I want to change the timing chain and don't want to put the wrong one on it. But on the autozone site it doesn't list the 390 engine. What's the deal?
Another guy told me that there are some other odd things about the truck
4 speed manual
factory air
4X4
Apears to be lifted but can't tell if it's stock
he also mentioned something about the front and rear end and gears. can't remember what.
Never say Never Dr Dirt, my Australian truck has a stock 351C in it, along with many models of Ford cars. of it's era ..........Australia used the 351C for many applications in the 1960's & 1970's that the US didn't ........and still use the 351C today
