Afternoon all.
vic: 1993 F250 w/351w, M/t

on the intake manifold, just behind the thermostat housing there is a fitting, with a coolant line and sensor. Any ideas what it might be?

its next to the distributor and under the air intake hoses, on the side that they attach to the upper intake (IAC?)

ah okay. Would you happen to know what the fitting its attached to it is?

that thread thats tapped into the intake manifold is starting to seep from corrosion.
since it has an outlet house for coolant, is it a bypass or just to filter fluid through to keep the temp accurate?

Either Motorcraft KT81 or KT84. The difference between the two is the shape of the tube for the heater hose.

ohhhh, makes sense. Well, its ordered, as is a new temp sensor as my luck with sensors coming out pleasantly isn’t the greatest. I also may review if I can run my temp sensor there. Too many fights with the thermostat housing to try and place it there again

Your new motorcraft ECT sensor will be new style (rectangular vs round) & have a new plug & pigtails.

Yes, you can drill & tap the t-stat housing & put it there.

Then you'll need something like a hose barb to replace what I call the "stand pipe" assembly (that damn swivel pipe) so you can hook up the heater hose.

I had pics of a similar part off a 3.8 mustang motor that I've used successfully, but they're on a crashed PC

Sorry Scndsin, what I meant was for my autometer gauge. It took about 5 different attempts to seal the thermostat housing, the final answer was a new OEM housing from fleabay, gasket and t-stat. Not sure what the fuss was about but, I didn’t drill and tap that housing for a sensor because I wanted to test it first and leave well enough alone lol.

what ill look into doing is making a T or V fitting for the temp sensor so both are at the same location

Thanks Randy.

HW that's actually 2 separate parts, I use the top. Useful for bleeding air out of the system.

If I recall the is another "flat", drill & tapable on the lower manifold, but that'd require removal.

This is my Autometer mech water sender:

ah gotcha. Yeah that photo is where I originally had mine. I had too many issues with the housing and the sensor was just an extra pain to move. Started to wonder if I warped the intake manifold

Flat square of steel wrapped in your favorite flavor of sand paper.

Not beating up on you, but I just don't have the drama with the t-stat & housing that seems so prevalent for so many.

My capillary runs down the manifold back through the clutch block off plate sliced in two with gromets.

I just lay it off to the drivers side when doing work up there.

If you picked up another intake, there are 1 maybe 2 other places you could drill & tap.
