It hit 85 on my dashboard thermometer. I don't know if it's accurate. The temp sensor is behind the grill. It's back to 55 about now. And it's still dropping. Probably back to 40's overnight. That's a big swing from day to night.
Today is a good day. Had to travel 6 miles (12 round trip) to pay my daughter's storage bill before they auctioned off her stuff. That particular Derrel's facility is in the rich part of Fresno. On the way there I saw an orange McLaren pass by me. Then on the way back, I saw a red Ferrari pass by. I don't know what model the Mclaren was they all look so similar, but the Ferrari looked like a 458. Definitely a good day, and since I did this in the early morning, the heat had not set in yet.
I got a 911 page today for an elderly neighbor who had fallen down. It took a couple minutes to find the right house and when I parked and headed for the door I heard the woman say, "we're over here." I hustled over and she pointed to her husband who was face down in the dirt. I thought I was going to be doing CPR but when I gave him a slap on the back he kind of perked up. He then told me he was hearing impaired, so I bumped up the volume a little. Turns out he fell down about 8am and his wife was sleeping in. It was FOUR HOURS LATER that she heard him when she went looking for him. Anyway I was going to roll him over but he was in pain, and so I focused on giving him some water and just talking to him knowing Cal Fire would be there momentarily. They were a little slow but arrived at about the same time as an ambulance. They got him turned over then got him on a board then to a chair and finally to his feet. He was a bit woozy as expected, but was in fairly good shape. I told one of the Cal Fire guys, "he's been out here four hours, he needs a lazy boy chair and a cocktail." Once they got him in the house, he parked it in his favorite chair and started offering everyone wine lol. He'll be a little sore, but he's all right. Oh, he said at some point he got tired and took a nap.
Thanks for being one of the people who are willing to answer the call. You make a difference. Society needs more guys like, willing to step up, and do the right thing.
I am weird. A few years ago, I decided that I like boots instead of shoes, and that I didn't want to tie shoes anymore. I ended up without any formal dress shoes or sneakers. When I wear a business suit, and even in black tie and white tie, I wear cowboy boots. Odd, because collecting sneakers is a trend amongst people in my age group. I don't have any Jordans. I don't have any Nikes.
Eventually, the only shoes I had left were slip on shoes like penny loafers, Crocs, and Sperry CVO style slip on canvas shoes.
I ended up with pull on style boots like cowboy boots, boots with built in zippers, and I even added zippers to my regular boots. In my world, I often wear work boots and duty boots. Most of those boots are polishable, and they look decent with a shoe shine. But the important thing for me is comfort. Mil-Spec style duty boots have come a long way since WWII, and now, they are probably the most comfortable and utilitarian footwear on the market.
I bought my first pair of sneakers in decades. A 40 year old design style. A complete flashback to another era. Thanks to modern day Amazon shopping, I found some rubber shoe lace replacements so that I don't have to tie them. And it's a high top style that goes over the ankles for support. It feels like I'm wearing a boot.
Actually, I didn't buy them. The girlfriend got them. She said something about how summer is coming, and she did not want to be seen with me, if I wore shorts and a pair of cowboy boots. She said that it was not a good look for a man.
Just checked Clovis Ford for current prices on Mavericks and Rangers. I need to win the lotto....
The Maverick prices are all over $34k, and the Ranger prices are closer to $50k. I did see one Maverick lariat also listed for $50k. I couldn't afford it when it was listed for $23k, there is no way I can afford one at twice the price.
First thing they do is ask your zip code. Hence Clovis Ford. I'm sure lithia Ford would be cheaper, but it really doesn't matter. With my current situation I need to look for something under $4k. was just curious.
Prince, the entertainer, was known for serving pancakes.
I can't play basketball like Prince. I don't have the fame or fortune, or Mickey Free from Shalamar hanging out with me. But I do have a cast iron griddle.
My brother in law gave me a few crabs. I really like ramen. Crab noodle soup was just right since it was cold and windy outside. My part of The Grid lost power for about 75 minutes. The wind might have had something to do with that. Rain is coming this week. I hope that I don't lose power again. I have to reset a bunch of clocks when that happens. The Warriors beat The Kings. I made pancakes and sirloin.
Happy Monday all. Today is my day to be a pincushion at the VA. Booster shot, shingles shot, flu shot, pneumonia shot. I need more arms. Oh yeah, they want to check my blood too.
