I'm sure it will work out. Just means a delay in getting the truck. I wanted the insurance money to arrive before the truck anyway, so this way it is a sure thing.
I had to come up with $1,000 in American Express gift cards, then send them to eBay motors for verification.

From what I recall, eBay transactions are via PayPal, not American Express gift cards. And it's awfully hard to believe that they are selling a vehicle for a $10,000+ discount, and that they are selling it for less than the cost of shipping. It just sounds too good to be true.
Too good to be true. I decided to check with eBay regarding this issue, and surprise, surprise, no order or messages from them to me. So, now I am going to report this issue with the website that eBay's customer service agent gave me, and then contact American Express and see if there is any possible way to get a refund. If not, it is going to be one painfully expensive lesson learned.
Since I paid with my debit card for most of them, I will see if my bank can help too. If they do, they usually give me a credit while they investigate. So I can get my rent paid today. I used my PayPal credit card for some also, so maybe they can help. Heck of a way to spend my birthday, getting scammed. On a different note, I contacted the VA to find out when the scooter wheel would be arriving and found out there was no order placed for one but there was an order placed for a battery, Go figure. Two weeks of waiting, riding the scooter on a bad wheel, and now I get to wait longer. And he tells me not to ride it unless I have to. Well, I had already restricted my use of it, and since I don't have a car now it is my only form or transportation. I also asked if I could get a hoist for my Tundra to allow me to take the scooter with me. Of course, this was before I found out it was a scam, so now I have to contact them and cancel that order. However, since I am disappointed in the lack of range of the scooter, I will have the tech check the batteries while he is here installing the wheel.
Well, not from American Express. They will not reimburse me for what was spent on the cards prior to reporting them lost or stolen. They have blocked the cards for future attempts, but most the cards only have a few dollars left on them, two are over ten, but most are under five. I will contact my bank and see if I can get the charges disputed, but I don't think they will.
Liars, cheaters, and thieves. There's no way that the grocery store is allowing me to have a 60% discount of over $137. I sure hope that Albertsons and Kroger's merger happens soon. At least that way, they can lower the prices at the check stand.
Like a fool, I bought another supermarket ham. The price was too good to pass over.
No luck at the bank. If Rite-Aid or Walmart had not given me the cards I put money on they would be able to dispute the charge. Neither of the stores did that. So, I will just live with the loss. My original plan was to save the car payment each month that I don't have to make now, and when I get enough in the savings, look for a truck that actually is local. Craigslist showed the Tundra about a mile from me, but when talking to the person, I found out it wasn't there. I may still look for a Tundra, or Tacoma, but maybe I can find a four door F-150 I can afford. Just to allow extra room for the grand kids.
