AM radio gets static under power lines, in garages, when my off-road lights are on, when my cell phone is close, if my take out order has MSG, or when the wind blows. It's the worst reception.
Yet, I faithfully listen to AM for traffic and news. I listen to Armstrong and Getty on AM. AM also serves Spanish, Hindi, Chinese, Vietnamese, and probably other languages. FM doesn't have what AM offers.
I like free. AM is free. I don't have to pay for a streaming subscription. I don't need to have a paid for cellphone.
I will miss those up to the minute traffic reports.
I listen to a few AM stations for news and traffic.Lately, I have been using Android Auto to run Google Maps and Waze. On my head unit, when I'm using Android Auto, I can't play the radio for regular AM/FM reception. Android Auto allows you to run different music streaming apps while the map and navigation apps are running. YouTube Music, Amazon Music, Spotify, I Heart Radio..... I can play a lot of music. I have "Tune In" and "Simple Radio" apps which also run on Android Auto.
KCBS radio, which is 740 AM and 106.9 FM, isn't available on my Android Auto apps. Maybe I haven't found the right app yet. But this is the station that I listen to the most. News and traffic. None of those left wing, right wing, or liberterian talk shows.
Found a '93 Nissan pickup for $2,500 not too far from here, at least Craigslist says it is. LOL I don't have $2,500 yet, and this post is 8 days old, so I am going to assume it is sold already. It will take me about three months to get up to $2,400 with the insurance money and saving $400 a month. Maybe I will find something similar. There is a decent looking GMC Sonoma in Clovis, but it is the single cab version. I need the extended cab so I can get the seat all the way back to allow my right foot to operate the gas pedal. And if memory serves me it is listed at $4,000. That will take a few months to obtain.
"Well" the crew is out replacing the pump, motor, and piping. Lots of sludge built up in the pipe. The guy was saying I should have them acid flush it on some sort of regular basis, every year and a half to two years. Also putting in new wire.

Maybe you can get a hydrojet. Do it yourself without acid. I bought one of those a few years ago. It has saved me a fortune, based on what my neighbors have paid plumbers, after using it twice.
It couldn't hurt to buy one. They don't cost very much, compared to what a plumber will charge. And, you will be able to put it to use for your other pipes.
I hope is lasts a long time. But ten years is probably the replacement interval. The acid flush actually dissolves the offending matter, rather than just pulverizing it. It's something I should have been doing, and will going forward.
Decent used vehicles are out there. We used to have a 1985 Nissan King cab. We bought it from a friend back in 2000 when he told me he was just going to donate it. I needed a truck at the time, and we haggled for it. he wanted to just give it to me, so I bought him lunch at a local Indian place. I think I paid around $7.50 for the lunch buffet.
We kept it until 2004 or 2005, when we leased a new Tundra for our business and sold it to my brother-in-law for $1. He's still driving it, but for the last year or so it has become "the ranch truck", but he claims it runs great. It must have close to 300,000 miles on it by now.
Most vehicles if properly maintained will last a long time. The catch is properly maintained. The average person just drives them and changes the oil (if lucky) until something breaks. Maybe I can find one of those properly maintained vehicles. But first, Geico has to give me my refund. They told me yesterday they sent the paperwork on the 3rd of this month. So, technically I should be upset with Chase bank.
The neighborhood bar, as it was romanticised on television by the TV show "Cheers". I've been hanging out at bars since before I was old enough to go into a bar. When you hang around bars, like I do, you find yourself in the dumbest of conversations, and even taking the most ridiculous positions....... in an effort to make the next guy look like an even bigger jerk than you. All is fair in love and war, and bar room topics.
Without offending anyone's sensitivities...... is there such "a thing" as a Clinton Republican?
