I got a question for you..... I was flipping through some web pages the other day when I saw the neatest thing! This one guy, don't remember the type of truck, had lights underneath the cab of his truck. They would turn on when you unlocked the doors, or when you opened the door. You know how when you hit the unlock button on your key fob, the interior lights come on? Well, when this happened, these undercab lights would come on also. Showing you what's beneath your truck, kinda aimed at where the nerf bars would be, but shining down on the ground. The also would come on when you opened the doors too. Basically any time the interior lights came on. Follow? (hope I didn't lose anyone)
Now for my question.... Where is the wire that I can tap into to make this idea a reality on my truck? Any ideas anyone?
I'm not sure of the color wire for the interior lights. I bet you can find it by looking at the headlight dimmer switch and figure which wire becomes energized when the wheel switch is in the on positions. If all you want is doors then I believe the door trigger is a possitive black/blue wire. and can be found in the kick pannels.
Nope, I wish I had those mods he's got. Jack is the only one I have seen to have done that so far. He is over on TDS. Check out the rest of his mod galleries and you'll digging in the wallet.
LOL! I wish! Thanks for the reference though! That will come in bouku handy when I do this mod. Just going to wait till I come back from FL in 3 weeks before I do it.
Here we go again. Another mod that I havn't seen. Now I got to have it........Thanks Rugby. I guess that I'll have to get another job just to keep up with the mods...heheh
I did this mod back in april on my X but with( 4) 55w floods, 1 for each door. It works great BUT beware, if your door switch becomes dirty and sticks it will kill you battery in no time. It did on mine with a new Optima yellow top
I installed "undercab" lights on my 99 PSD about 2 years ago. I was motivated by a new truck we got on the local fire district. It has "working" lights mounted under the chassis. The cool thing is they are controlled by a switch in the cab, so you can drive down the highway with them on. This looks kinda cool from a distance. Anyway, I am here to shed some light on how I did it.
I used four clear 4 inch round plastic lights and grommets with brackets. These lights are normaly used for reverse lights in flatbed pickup applications.
LIGHT: GROTE PART # 61051-CLEAR
RUBBER GROMMET: GROTE PART # 91740
BRACKET: GROTE PART # 43572
PIGTAIL: GROTE PART # 67010
This is very easy you need some 12 ga wire and automotive relay. Open the fuse box in the cab and put your hand on the upper most relay. Its kinda different that the others. Turn on the dome light with dimmer switch and feel the realy click. If it does pull the relay take a test light and find the terminal that is hot when the dome light is on. Take the wire and wrap it around the terminal or go behind the fuse box and solder the new wire to the existing wire that is hot when the dome is on. Then wire the relay as such and mount the lights to the existing holes in the lower part of the cab. (I have pics if anyone wants them!) Ground the relay and secure all wires. BE SURE TO FUSE THE RELAY AND THE NEW LIGHTS. I have a 5 amp fuse in mine. Works everyday all day. This is the mod that I get the most compilments about, and one of the more functional. I can answer any questions, although I am new here I have had my PSD 99' F250 for 2+ years.
Here is a pic of my truck at night with the undercab lights on. The pic is not the best and looks a little brighter than actual.

The original link was bad to my first post. I reposted the picture. You can go to my gallery and see a pic of where I mounted the lights. Sorry for the confusion. I can get more detailed pics if you want them.
