Hello everyone, I have a 1999 Expedition that I love. I bought it new and at 157000 miles the belt pully tensioner went bad and rubbed a hole in front of engine... On a trip of course. I made it home with new tensioner and belt. It was extremely loud! lol I had a used engine installed with 99000 miles on it. Been my favorite truck and still is. My problem now is the speedo goes nuts and makes the transmission shift at odd times as well as the usual problems recently with the rubbing/clunking of front end and no heat! I replaced the shift position sensor because it was sloppy getting into gear. I replace the abs sensor on the rear differential. My local mechanic showed me a picture of a output shaft speed sensor. I bought one and when i got under truck there wasn't one. The location it should have been in had a metal ring open with wires coming out but I couldn't see any type of sensor.I looked on rear of tailpiece is this the only one? am I missing something? Truck runs and drives excellent before this hiccup anyway. Thanks in advance for your help. P.S. I read hundreds of threads and could find my exact combination of problems
Before wasting any more money on parts that may or may not be bad, what codes are stored in the PCM?
You can get Forscan to read the codes. It is available at www.forscan.org. Their page shows how to select an OBDII adaptor to plug into the truck. Alternatively, you could take it to a good independent shop or a Ford dealer to read the codes. The auto parts stores that read codes CANNOT read Ford transmission codes.
