I have a 96 Ranger 2.3 standerd trans. I was changint the timming belt but I did not have the right tool to put to timming belt on, so I had to put it all back together.
I cranked it up to make sure it ran and the error cood P0340 come up which is the Camshaft Position sensor circuit malfution. could someont tell me where that is
On the 2.3L, the camshaft position sensor (CMP) is mounted on the oil pump behind the inner timing belt cover. Held on with two bolts. The electrical connector comes off of it at a 90 degree angle which gives kinda gives an "L" shape to it.

Did you actually take the timing belt off?
No I did not, I needed the tool that you have to use to take the tenson off the pulley.
