supercharging problems

I just bought a '90 F150 4x4 with the 351 and a vortech supercharger on it. Just my luck, as soon as I got it home I find the SC belt was just about to fall off. (was fine when I picked it up)

Has anyone had any problems with SC belts falling off? What would cause such a thing. worn belt? Also, anyone from the Detroit area know of a good shop that could help me look over the engine/supercharger for possible problem areas.

I am hoping I didnt just find the real reason this guy needed to sell it.

You have just discovered the #1 reason most people hate their supercharger.

That belt will need to be checked on a weekly basis. yep, I said weekly. It is a major annoyance and will drive you insane, but you gotta do it.

You just purchased a high-maintenance vehicle. I hope it has an A/F meter, or you could have problems without knowing it.

I would recommend owning at least 1 spare belt. It will break at the most inopportune time.
