I doubt AAA would help. I called Geico, but because it wasn't the Dodge Charger, they wouldn't cover it. So, I just called the tow company they use, and they towed it.

You should check out what an ambulance costs, A few years ago my SO had a minor medical emergency when her nose suddenly gushed blood. She was furiously trying to keep blood from getting all over the inside of her truck, and called 911. The guys from the ambulance company were all very nice; they locked up her truck, and took her the 1000' to the emergency room at Kaiser. The bill was $2700.

I will NEVER call an ambulance company. First of all, there is only ONE in Fresno (and all this time I though Monopoly was only a board game, and illegal in the USA.) The last time I needed one, I found out their minimum charge was $995. That doesn't include anything but showing up. If they transport you anywhere, they then charge you a per mile fee which is so high as to be considered highway robbery. Sixty dollars is what I will pay if I need a ride to the hospital. I'll call the tow company and tell them my mobility scooter needs to go to the hospital with me.

Pork and Beans.

Beans are not sexy. Unless you grew up eating beans, it's hard to acquire the taste for them. Just because of the way they look.

Pork ribs on the other hand, takes less convincing. There are people who religiously do not eat pork. I get that. But I've witnessed weaker members of the faith succumb. Toady's rack of baby back ribs was fork tender. Falling off the bone. It was literally a pile of melted, shredded, pulled pork.

I dated a girl who was of a certain faith. Her people did not eat pork. But she went for the ribs with little convincing. The beans? She refused to eat something that looked like a scoop of poo.

DAV helps to and from the hospital. However, the VA hospital is only two and a half miles from home, and I know my scooter can make it there and back with no problems. Handy Ride is useful, but not convenient as they say it may take up to 2 hours to get you to your destination. However, if I was already approved, it would have saved me over sixty dollars. So, I will have to look into that for any future use. Although, come to think of it, my scooter won't fit in the Handy Ride Van. They may have a lift at the back of the van that might work. Will need to check into it some more.

Our power came back a day early (Thursday afternoon). I think they padded the estimates because of the huge number of outages.

Made a trip to town yesterday, and had to wait a few times for crews still cleaning up trees, rocks, and mud all over the place. It added about 15 minutes to what is normally almost an hour trip (each way).

It got super nice in town; I think around 65 degrees. The forecast says today will be a little warmer.

And the story of the day........

Rumor has it that this guy leaked the video himself. He did it for attention. He is suspended and being investigated for betting on the sport. You are not suppose to bet on the sport while you're competing. His career is over if The Athletic Commissioner takes away his license as an athlete.

Since the forecast is telling me there will be rain for the next four days, I decided to go to the store today. Not an easy task with a flat spotted right rear tire. I have no clue how a solid tire can get a flat spot when the scooter is used almost every day. I owned my red one for six years and never had an issue with it. I have owned this one six weeks, and already a problem. Anyway, since it went flat in Mc Donald's while waiting for the tow truck, I contacted the VA. They will send someone out to fix it. I was hoping for a miracle, and someone would come out yesterday, but no such luck. So now it will have to be next week sometime. I bought extra groceries since I plan on being indoors for the next four days except tomorrow when I go to church. According to the weather guessers, it is not supposed to stat raining tomorrow until 11am. Our services end around that time, so I will only get wet on the way home. I have a Walmart grocery bag I use to cover the electronics and an umbrella to cover myself. So, I am sure I won't get too wet in the two-block ride home.

The best thing in the rain, is a poncho. Even if you are a big guy. Amazon has rain ponchos with mylar on the inside. With all of the waterproof technology like Hipora and GoreTex costing hundreds of dollars..... A $5 poncho works just as well.

I bought a spiral sliced ham from the grocery store. It came with a packet of sweet syrup.. It did not taste like turkey. Although I was not particularly impressed otherwise. I might like grocery store ham better if it was a turkey ham.

Those store hams all taste like salt to me. Good when you want a salted piece of pork to add flavor something else. Not sure about just putting it in my mouth and eating it. It's a lot of salt.

When I was a kid, hams came in sacks. It was what butchers sold. You still had to roast them at home. I don't see that anymore.

Honey baked hams were sold at their own boutique stores. I never tried one. Too expensive . I don't see the stores anymore. I guess that they priced themselves out of business. Nobody could afford to buy them.

Grocery store hams were plastic wrapped in net bags. I only buy them on sale for 99¢. It's too much to pay for not very good, salt water pork. The best part is boiling the bone for pork stock. For my money, I would rather buy the leg of pork, salt it, then roast it myself.

And the drug stores had ham in weird shaped cans. This same canned ham is also sold on eBay, and quite popular in other countries . To this day, I still don't know what a canned ham taste like. I've never bought one, and nobody has ever served one to me.

The last ham I bought was in a shrink wrapped plastic bag.
