My dead butt didn't feel a thing, but my So informed me of the 3 tremors up around San Bruno/Pacifica in the wee hours.
We had winds of 59 MPH on Tuesday, and miraculously, the power stayed on. I call that a win. The other bonus is that it's been cold, but not cold enough to make the white stuff here. I haven't reviewed the rain totals, but we must be getting up there. I know the Sierra is having a record snow year; something like the most in 70 years. If it doesn't melt all at once, it might be a good thing.
No rain this morning as the sun is out and skies are clear. However, they are saying it will start around 3pm. Still waiting for my scooter to be fixed. The company that shipped it must have used the pony express. Or maybe it is one of the cities affected by the foul weather. In either case, I am stuck just using the scooter for church and the nearby Walmart.
Here in North Central Washington, it has been sunny all day. I'm just about to the point of going without my long johns, it's just that the 30° in the morning and then when the sun goes over the hill it gets cold again and the long johns feel pretty good.
The forecast is for it to turn dark afterwhile with a view of scattered stars, early tomorrow morning it will turn light and will stay that way the rest of the day!!!
I think we are clear here on the peninsula for at least Thursday and Friday, with a "maybe" for Saturday. There is another system moving in, but the center of the low is going to be up at the Oregon/California border. The weather guy felt that the chances of any rain from it getting to the bay area would be slim. So we shall see. The SO and I are going to an outdoor get-together on Saturday evening, so hopefully we'll be staying dry.
The last two rain days gave us about 1" of rain for each day. Here's the score for the last 30 days:
Well, I got some bad news today. I called the body shop where the Charger is for an update, and they told me it would cost $46,000 to repair the car! I told them that is twice as much as I paid for it. They said it needs new engine, transmission, suspension, and exhaust system. The exhaust alone is $17,000. These are genuine Dodge parts from the car maker. They suggest I contact Geico to see what they want to do. I am pretty sure they will just write it off as totaled. Most expensive car I ever bought, and only able to enjoy it for five months. Unreal. I don't know what Geico will pay to the bank, but whatever it is, will mean less I have to pay them over the next five and half years. Well, this way I can cancel my insurance, and not have to buy gas or pay for oil changes etc. on the car. Just going to have to do all my errands on the scooter.
The bank is still going to want to get paid, so I will still have to make payments. However, at this time, I don't know for how long. Since i have not heard anything from Geico, I don't know if they will total it out, or try to get cheaper parts. Even if by some miracle paid it off completely, my credit rating is in the toilet at the moment, so nobody would give me a car loan. And today the manager put a 60 day notice of an increase in rent to $781 from $725. However, I'm pretty sure Section 8 will pay the difference like they did when it was raised last year.
