Does anybody know what would cause a transmission that hasn’t had any problems and never over heats all of a sudden quits going into gear and when I got the pan pulled off there was a lot of metal in it and the fluid was actually a metallic black????

I know! Something broke inside the trans. Pull it out, tear it down, and then you will have your answer. Anything else is just guessing.
15,000 lb trailer is a big load. What tune are you running on that SCTX4?
I was running an extreme tow from total diesel performance. I got a h&s mini maxx for Christmas the 109003 one and I have it installed currently. I towed once with the new one about a week ago. I pulled a Nissan Altima on a big u-haul car hauler trailer from paintsville Kentucky back to candler North Carolina.
Have you tried pulling codes? IDK, and trust Mark K's advice on trannies. Metal not good. Does the fluid smell burnt? I've had to replace the wiring harnesses on mine when it quit shifting right, but there were codes indicating that.

Mark gets all the easy questions. Has Hartwig ever rebuilt one of these? I'm just another cheapazz know-nothing; harnesses, solenoids and fluids are about as far as I go with these transmissions. Mark needs a challenge.
