Hey all,
Looking into melding 92-97 Super (aka extra) cab body (from F150 or F250) onto 95 F350 4x4 137" wheel base Cab and Chassis drw that currently has a single/regular cab.
Seems like the only issues may be with:
Rear cab anchor locations
Possibly too short wheel base
Will have different/new vin on cab
Any thoughts, past experience, input on this?
Thanks!
You can make a F-250 a dually if you want, and even add the Dana 60 solid front axle too. It will be as strong as a F-350. You'll never get that frankin-truck to look good no matter how much work you put into it.
OK so both you guys love the idea....maybe not...lol. So I've seen a number of OBS F250 extra/super cab 4x4 flatbed drw pics, as well as NBS F350 4x4 extra cab flatbed drw. Both look pretty cool to me. What is the issue(s) with doing this....? Fill me in if you can please.

Those trucks started life as a super cab. You want to frankentruck an OBS by putting a supercab on a regular cab chassis. They have different frames so this will be yet another hacked up OBS. I guess by you doing this you make my OBS worth more because thats 2 less original OBS trucks driving around if you complete this swap.

Sorry, I'm pretty ignorant on the subject. So the host frame is too short and would have to make new cab anchor points like I noted in OP, or more complicated than that?

It CAN be done that way but I just can't advise ruining 2 trucks to make 1 ******* truck.
you would have to make new cab mounts front AND back, as the rear cab mounts are not there. front mounts would have to be fabricate due to the cab chassis frame being around 3 inches narrower than the pickup frame.
as a retired body man, i can tell you it will be a whole lot easier and cheaper just finding a supercab.
I could be wrong , but I always understood it to be trucks cabs and beds are designed to flex independently. For example flexed off road the bed lines will be way off cab lines . More pronounced the more you are off camber .
So the reg cab chassis with a super cab on it would lose the bed to cab flex .
send it right back if this is wrong haha !
I’ve always thought this but never had it set in stone.
They are, but that's mostly done with the way the two parts are attached to the frame, and not attached to each other. That will let the frame roll and twist somewhat without making the bed/cab pop and buckle.

Ahh, now that's critical info that I was seeking (not that I did not enjoy the strong opinions by others on OBS frankentrucking up an OBS, lol).
Thanks transport.
i mean it can be done, i shortened the frame and put a pickup bed on a cab chassis F-SuperDuty.
but i also had all the tools rite in front of me to do it so it was easy for me.
but it is not something i would recommend for a novice or shade tree mechanic.
