I’m trying to removed the shifter from my np435 to pull the trans out. There is a little cap on the shifter that is keeping it from popping out whenever I turn the little ring to release it. Any ideas? Couldn’t find anything anywhere on how to take this cap off
Big Channel locks will remove the cap. After that you need to push down on the ball and turn it. That part is a bitch. NP435 Gear Shifter Removal - YouTube
And also that the small (1/4") pin that goes sideways into the shifter ball, doesn't drop into the trans as you lift the shifter out. If it does, drain the oil & you should be able to retrieve it through the PTO port.
