Drifting down a long forest service road, at about 15 mph in 3rd, I lock out 3rd to slow down. The truck downshifts and accelerates to about 25 mph, before the engine compression slowly drops the speed. This is repeatable over the course of several months. The truck is a 2022, F250, 4X4, 7.3, 10 speed, 4.30 rears, with camper/snowplow packages. I did not check the transmission in manual yet, next trip.
Not what I want the truck to do. Is this normal for the beast, or does it need a re-flash?
It really sucks in stop-and-go traffic on the freeway while towing. You give it a little gas and then need to stop but it feels like its driving on its own.
All four of mine do it 6R100 does it in 2nd gear often and 10R140 does it in 2nd and 3rd gear. If I know im going to downshift above 2500rpm I just apply the brakes at the same time so it doesn't run away before it engages the lower gear.
Another thing mine does is when going down hills, and the cruse is set, it starts to hold back the truck, witch is fine, But at the bottom when it no longer needs to hold the truck back it doesn't shift up, it adds gas and keeps the lowest gear it got down to, then adds more gas and finally, after way too long of holding that gear it shifts up... annoying, it's like the TCM locked out the gears on it's own...
When decelerating, engines usually run pretty lean. Maybe the engine is adding a little fuel to help prevent a too-lean situation.
What I hate, is when my truck isn't quite warmed up, I can manually drop down to 2nd gear at 40mph and my truck will accelerate faster. RPM's over 3000, foot off the gas pedal, and the truck speeds up. Stupid *** emissions...
Mine does the same as the OP's. It goes way beyond rev matching. The truck accelerates not just the engine. To make it more confusing it doesn't do it when in the Tow Haul mode.
Mine also gets hung up in lower gear it dropped down to at the end of a grade and doesn't want to upshift. Most time I have to shift to M and get it out of that gear.

Doesn't seem right.
Yea, I think the TCU and or the ECU needs some re-programing, the way it is now works great for downshifting on a hill going up, and you want more power, but going down it keeps on powering instead of retarding as expected... Then your description of getting hung up and not shifting up earlier when reaching a flat area is a re-programing fix too. IMO
