The hitch receiver thing is kind of a mess and differs between model years.
2020:
2020:
- 2.5" receiver - All F250/F350 SRW trucks (one exception below)
- 3" receiver - DRW trucks and the F-350 SRW Crew Cab 176" WB with diesel engine
- 2.5" receiver - All F250 trucks and F350 SRW trucks with gas engines
- 3" receiver - DRW trucks and the F-350 SRW diesel engine trucks
- 2.5" receiver - All F250 trucks; F350 SRW Regular Cab/SuperCab, except 164" WB with diesel engine; F-350 DRW with 6.2L engine
- 3" receiver - F-350 SRW SuperCab 164" WB with diesel engine; F-350 SRW Crew Cab; F-350 DRW with 7.2L gas or 6.7L diesel engine; F-450
- 2.5" receiver - All SRW trucks
- 3" receiver - All DRW trucks

My B&W 2.5" ball mount is rated to 16k lbs I believe.
The Curt forged is rated to 20k.
The ever popular B&W tow and stow is rated to 14.5k in 2.5"...
There's a few options out there at 18k.
Probably more options that are weight distributing up rated up that high.

My guess is 20% conservative numbers. Two reasons, 1) Ford doesn't have to reengineer engines and such to keep up with Chevy/ram each year and 2) liability.

This is hilarious, the shear number of people saying O my gosh people are going to be killed, this cannot be possible.
How can this be any different, from the original inception of the pickup people have been overloading them, and now Ford produces numbers and it's O my God.

Other than registration and door jams if a person has proper tires and inflated to max instead of getto pressure car ride mode these 7.3 seem to be very capable and I'm sure there will be buyers in the used truck market using these new numbers.
