Ok so I took the pump out and put pressure to it and found to it be leaking a good bit around the shaft, enough that oil was blowing by it.
Location air and oil was blowing out.
But now I’m concerned because I don’t see a ball bearing in it at all. No ball bearing but doesn’t look like it ever had one.
Should I be concerned and digging around looking for a loose ball bearing in my engine?
Thanks for all your help. I ordered a cncfab hpop and all new seals and o-rings to put it back together. I hope this was the culprit and I don’t have a loose bearing inside my motor.
Some people remove the ball bearing and tap the opening for threads so that a plug can be screwed in. That never addresses why the BB blew out in the first place though!
I can't really tell from your picture, but it doesn't look like it has a plug in it either.
If you did lose the ball bearing, hopefully it found the oil pan without causing any damage on the way down.
Just a final update guys. I purchased a stage 1 hpop from cnc fab and got it all buttoned up yesterday. So far it’s running great and the no start has gone away. Thank you all for the advice!
