Truck intermittently wont start
Hey,
I hate to make another post about the truck not starting but I am having trouble finding someone with the same issues.
The first thing i noticed was my turbo was surging like a pulse continuously( 2 seconds spool up then 2 seconds spool down )... this was at 80 mph with cruise control on. and then it did it intermittently for the rest of the ride home... past couple days this hasnt been an issue though?
Yesterday was the first day it just decided not to start for some reason.
It had been running great 15 mins before i tried starting the truck again. ( Wouldnt start)
I think its being starved for fuel or something like that.
It turns over everytime and i recently replaced the alternator ( batteries seem good ) so i dont believe its related to that. I tried starting it like 12 times with no luck. so I finally just sat there for like 20 mins and turned the key and it fired right up. had no issues for the rest of the day
Today. I went out to lunch and when I left lunch the truck started just fine. I drove down the street to a stop sign. when i tried to accelerate I had NO THROTTLE at all ( in park, drive , or nuetral ) the truck was idling though. I put it in drive and eventually went up a very slight incline idling and she stalled out.
She wouldnt start after she stalled. 5 mins later it started. I drove to advanced auto to check the codes ( nothing showed up )
truck wouldnt start for about an hour after I turned it off at advanced auto.
Finally it started and i drove 35 mins home an it ran seeming perfect. ( with a lil bit less ***** then she used to have though )
I replaced the secondary fuel filter which did seem fairly clogged. still wouldnt start
( primary I did like 10 k ago ) I didnt purge the fuel system correctly this time but even if i did i dont think it would start at this point.
Looking for suggestion before I just go throwing parts at the truck.
THANKS!!!!

Something is going on with the response to the throttle. I had the truck in park and tried to hold the rpm at a steady 2000rpm. It dropped down to like 900 rpms and then up to 3000 rpms with out me moving my foot on the gas petal.
hey bobcat... whats the hpop
ford boy. I dont have a code scanner... but i took it to advanced and they said it wasnt throwing any codes

What im really looking for is a list of things that could be causing the issue.
Hopefully starting with the most likely and moving down to the least.
If the truck sits for a while it has no trouble starting at all. could anything be over heating?
Badford thanks man.
I did not clean the EGR. I assume you suggest I do that?
My plan:
I am going to replace the primary fuel filter just to rule that out.
I guess ill clean the EGR Valve aswell.
I personally was suspecting it to be the fuel pump...
I dont understand how the HPOP would cause this issue but ill try and do some research. unless if one of you can explain why. Depending on the cost ill replace this too.
Thanks for the feed back
