Dude, at 45 in od you are nowhere near 1500rpm
You are closer to 1200
We have already been over that. As I just said in that post I need to readjust my PCM for the bigger tires.
this is my truck with 31.2” tires at 45mph with 4.30 gears.
also, just for the record, I never said I was at 1500 rpm at 45. I said I was at around 1400 which as you can see from my posted pictures, that is what my tachometer shows which we have already established is wrong due to the PCM with the bigger tires. I already understand that. Anyway, I am going to try to get forscan on my computer because of all the extra options that are on the full version.
Anywho, I'm back to work. Talk to y'all after a while.
But unfortunately, even in the 40 HP tow tune my turbo does want to surge. The new turbo upgrade is going to have to be soon. But driving at the high RPMs now that I know thanks to all of your help, it does stop the surging until I get into od.
The way I typed it probably made me sound crankier than I was, but I was pumping $6.50 per gallon fuel into my truck and I was not too happy about that, my sarcastic annoyance bled over into my post lol
You were pretty close, Eric. The two pids all the way to the left. Vehicle speed and rpm. A little over 1300 and 45. Just for the record my tachometer on the dash shows 1500 at that speed..... This is my first time really checking it at that speed in that gear with forscan.

I do understand, I just paid $165 for less than a full tank to get ready for the trip. I already had an eighth of a tank.
I thought you did sound a little cranky, which is why when I responded I sounded a little cranky. I apologize.
I think your over thinking it by about 10 on a scale of 1-10. Lol there's no set rpm you have to change gears. Just drive it and fo what feel right. If it's lugging to much drop down a gear. Everybody has a different driving style so what one guy does ain't going to be what everybody else likes.

So thinking it through, to correct the rpm/speedo for the tire size, and making sure it isnt lugging waayyy down and blowing black smoke, and saying not to follow the book that says to run od at 40mph, and to try different tunes as he adjusts to having a tuned truck, is over thinking it? Huh

No I meant he is overthinking it in general. Not you.
