after installing a new intake I had a abs light on and speedometer no longer worked? I changed the speed sensor in the rear differential with no change at all. I checked the ground wires on the front of the truck for the abs it was fine I cleaned it up and sanded the frame to make sure it got a good connection. I also checked the wiring running from rear differential to the engine bay looked fine I took apart every plug I could find and cleaned and greased them with electrical lube. This has been going on for about 2 weeks now I noticed I no longer have a abs light but my speedometer still doesn’t work. Any ideas are much appreciated thanks! Edit my cruise control also wont come on assuming it has something to do with the speedometer
I have no experience on this one but have you checked all the fuses?
Otherwise, this happened at exactly the time you installed the intake right? Therefore I would be looking at everything touched during the intake swap.

yeah checked all the fuses and took out the intake I found the ground wire in front of the intake made sure that was on right but other then that I’m stumped. I appreciate your reply though!
What year is the truck? The 2002 gauge cluster is very different from prior years.
The truck is a 2003. The speedometer will make a lap if I unplug and replug in the battery so I know the gears are working just not sure why it’s not showing speed.
Did you sand where the bolt holds the sensor into the differential? If you look at sensor, there is a ground on the bolt. One of our trucks was given us a hard time until we did that.

i did not I will definitely try that wouldn’t my abs light still be on though if it wasn’t grounding? That’s where I’m lost is I don’t have a abs light anymore but still no speedometer.

Hmmmm, this would also include the need to verify that the axle itself is properly grounded to the frame of the truck as well.
The HEC cluster has a self diagnostic procedure, that might help too. Starts at about page 9 of the attached pdf.
A lot of the info displayed is hard to read, in hexidecimal code, so maybe print out the pages you need so you can consult them as you click thru the displays. Or make a good video of the display and figure it out later.
I went through a failed speedometer a while back and ended up needing to replace the cluster. Check the speed sensor in Forscan or the diagnostic tool on the odometer and if it reads the speed then I would guess it is likely the gauge itself as my issue was. If it isn't reading the speed then I would assume wiring somewhere.
