Another no speedo, ABS light on thread
I have gone through the wiring looking for broken or chafed wires, replaced the abs/vss sensor on the diff, and pulled the gem to check for moisture and corrosion (no signs of either).
The speedo was intermittent for a day or two then quit altogether.
Add these issues to all the other ones I have had and this is the most frustrating and worst truck I have owned so far. Anyone got any dynamite?
Check the condition of the plug and if you find any corrosion clean it off and
apply some dielectric grease in the plug and see if that fixes the problem.
A scan tool would be of help if that does not fix the problem.

Since earlier I have found it. The two wires that go to the plug at the vss one red one green, there was a little black dot on the red one about half way from the vss plug to where they join the rest of the light harness at the frame. Turned out it had been kinked or something and finally shorted out completely. I cut out the bad section and spliced it together. No more abs light and I have a speedo.

I went through that harness from front to back twice before and missed it. Was the smallest little spot. So I guess the $33 for the sensor was a waste, but atleast I didnt get suckered into a new GEM like some have. Haha.
Now onto the clock spring.
