There are a few guys that run DP but the great majority use Hydra. It’s the go-to standard these days in my opinion and no downside that I can see. I have never ran DP though. I believe DP will even sell files for the Hydra now.
I had DP and switched to Hydra because it's way easier and cheaper to change tunes.
Did you sort your dome lights out?
I was out at the Oregon Dunes for the weekend with sxs and quads. Fortunately there were no wrecks.
I grew up in B F'n E, what part are you in?
I was able to get the Dome’s and Dash lights figured out. Got the new connector wired in and everything works 100%, uncovered a multitude of other wiring debacles PO had going and sorted them out. Now I’ve uncovered a pretty hearty shake in the front end at highway speeds. So waiting for some $ so I can dive into that next.
Sounds like Hydra might be where I’m headed. I love mine on my OBS just seeing if the S/D’s are picky on chips.
Im from a itty bitty town in Nevada called Winnemucca, Population about 7.5k if I had to guess. It’s practically surrounded by Mines on all sides. It’s a cute place

Check Ball Joints and Trac Bar, assuming it's not wheel balance.

I've been everywhere, man!
Jeeze, I drove from LV to Winnemucca just on 2 lane last fall. That is some desolate country.
I'm pretty sure I even drove on the 'Winnemucca Road' and commented about it to my wife.
It's the middle of nowhere, but not quite BF'nE. At least theres roads to go other places.
Coincidentally, I stopped at the Johnny Cash Museum in Nashville in between my 2 most recent encounters with Winnemucca....

I'm pretty sure these pics are from the area....
Yup looks like home to me LOL!! It’s pretty funny meeting new people that travel vs people who don’t. People who drive always say “Winnemucca, Nevada?? Shoot I blew through there on I-80 headed towards Oregon” vs people who fly or don’t travel always think whatever place you’re from is close to Vagas!! Drives me nuts!! Also don’t often hear many people throw ol’Cashs Winnemucca Road line in so that was well appreciated!! Might have to hit up that Museum also I didn’t know it existed!!

I lived in Oregon and now in Washington. People always thought I lived in ****hole Portland or ****hole Seattle. 200+ miles away....

I didn't either. I'm more of a rocker but after visiting Cash and Presley museums in Nashville I'm a fan. Always had a soft spot for Cash mainstream stuff but now I'm a convert, he was a great guy.
Excellent job sorting the wiring "gift" from the PO! Trucks always seem to get the worst wiring hackery.
Great NV pics, reminds me of Highway 50. Straight, flat, hills. Lather rinse repeat. Luckily the countryside is pretty. From the inside of an airconditioned cab anyway.
Not sure about recent developments, but previously the main advantage to DP was access to a decel tune, aka exhaust brake. When towing the 5er that sealed the deal for me. Otherwise the flexibility of trying out tunes via email on the Hydra is too great to pass up.
I need to make pilgrimage to the Cash museum. I always liked his music but I had to get old enough to understand how Legit he was.

I chuckled and started singing the song in my head, then chuckled again at your 7.5K population figure as our town has 4.5K in it, which is how we like it. My wife and I have been to Winnemucca before during our travels of the west. We go from GA to ID and sometimes WA once every year or two it seems. I used to train (USAF) near Tonopah NV as well.
Your right about the different phrases and sayings people have that drive versus flying.
We appreciate you sharing a bit of your story with us as it lets us get to know you a bit better. Also, you never know... There may be another FTE'r near you, I think Capt'n Jack is north of there, but not too far.

I wonder how many of us older fellas are going to start singing that song when reading the post from Khris, I know I did...

Sous. Im no stranger to small towns lol, I was born in Hawthorne, NV (2.7k) My parents worked for the Munitions Depot there and spent most of my teens in Lovelock(1.6k) where I Graduated from.
Also I agree the world seems to just get smaller and smaller, there probably is a FTE’r nearby, also I’d like to say thank you for your service sir

My father was AMMO for 26 years. IYAAYAS was a way of life for him.

No wonder we like it out there so much... Although, no matter how good of a time we have or how many amazing things we see, we are always ready to get back home to our home in the country of north GA.
Need a list for beginner parts, been looking at turbos and such, I’m definitely going with a Hydra. Just not certain on what turbo/upgrades I should put on. I was scrolling through Full Force and seen the KC 300857 which looks like it’s just Upgraded internals for the GTP38?? Wondering if anyone has heard of it and knows if it’s a good deal? Any and all suggestions are appreciated!!
Oh my you’re heading down an expensive rabbit hole!
I had to look the part you mentioned by it’s number. It looks like a new center section with a KC balanced assembly. Known good combo but unless your center section is bad you can just rebuild your own.
Look into the KC balanced assembly (comes with a rebuild kit) or a KC 300x turbine paired with a Riffraff billet wheel and 360° rebuild kit.
Add a set of cheap bellowed uppipes while you’re at it to seal up the exhaust drive pressure side.
Jason ^^^ has a good start beyond that. You already have an EGT gauge right?
Yes sir! Boost and EGT, I think PO might’ve put the EGT probe in the wrong spot though, idle is like 500*F and I don’t see it on the manifolds anywhere. Other than that I’ll look into what Mr.Jason suggested and see what I snag from there.
