When I rebuilt my turbo I didn't clean my boots before reinstalling them and they had some oil on the inside from the CCV still being routed into the intake. First test run I popped the boot going from the cold side tube into the spider while it was pushing about 29 lbs of boost. Sounded like a gun shot. I put it back together and then drove it down the freeway the next day at 80 mph for a couple hours and then a couple days later drove it back home. Later on I turned the hot tune back on and put my foot into and it held 30 lbs of boost and now months later it still hasn't popped off again.
I'm not sure what boost level yours is popping off at, but if it's only when you are running higher levels of boost then I would follow @Sous advice above about trying to heat cycle it a few times at low boost. My speculation is that there was enough heat during those long sustained drives to get the oil sticky, but I don't know that the cold side actually gets hot enough to achieve that so you're mileage may vary. My brother-in-law has a 6.0 and a 6.4 and he said whenever he's had to remove a boot he just has to replace it because he's never had luck getting them to not pop off and he's tried all kinds of things like using hairspray and glues, etc.
