I'm looking for a pipe cutter that can cut 3 1/2" and 4" exhaust pipe, is fairly easy to use, and not overly expensive.
I can't find any of the standard exhaust pipe cutters that go over 3 1/4". Most pipe cutters that do accept 3 1/2" or 4" pipe are made for cutting plumbing pipe, and tend to be bulky and expensive.
It's a lot easier to cut pipe with a pipe cutter than a hacksaw. Any of you people know of a pipe cutter out there that doesn't cost a small fortune and will actually cut these sizes?
The problem with a cut off wheel that size is the heat will damage the thin pipe, badly.
If you are custom making exhaust, then a bandsaw is the thing.
But, just for a few pieces, it is hard to beat a sawzall and you can cut a straight line easy if you clamp the piece in a vise. Just use a short 6" blade and "almost" butt it against the piece. With a 1" stroke, this is enough blade. Where you get crazy angles is using a 12" blade that swings all over the place in narrow material.
