Flip Key Fob Programming Issue
I think the local Ford dealership ripped me off. My brother recently purchased a used 2018 F150 with only one key. The vehicle dash said it had 4 keys. I took it to the dealership. I asked them to delete all the keys and program the one original key back in and add another used Ford key that I provided from my truck (I upgraded to remote start fobs so I didn't need it anymore).
The dealership kept the truck for 2 days. When I picked it up, I verified both keys worked and 2 keys showed in the vehicle dash, paid $170. Get home and try to add a 3rd key using the instructions in the owners manual. It won't program. I also tried doing the 2 key method to retrieve the keypad code and it didn't work either. I have preformed both of these functions on multiple vehicles with no issues.
The only thing I can think of is the dealer had a cheap locksmith clone the key rather than the dealership programming it to the vehicle.
I already called the dealership yesterday. They claim I must be me making a mistake. The rep was not sure if they use a locksmith or not. They need me to call back on Monday to talk with a manager.
Thoughts? Is there a way to determine if the keys are registered as unique or cloned keys?

One thing for sure is that what was done at the Ford dealership and the price you paid………this is “unusually cheap” and I’m sure many if not most people would agree with me.
$170.00 is a bargain.
I was pleasantly surprised with how good they were about it all. After I discussed the sequence of events with the service manager, he agreed to not charge for the second visit.
The original charge was just the standard 1 hour shop fee. I think that was fair for deleting all the original keys and adding 2 keys. Keep in mind I provided all the keys and I had already had them cut.
