you can buy a spare key on e-bay or get one at the dealer. you can program it yourself in you have TWO keys to start with. you will have to get the key out from under the dash for a few minutes to do the programming. if you only have one key, you need to go back to the dealer to have it reprogrammed. procedure is in the operators book.
When I got my f-150 there was only one key.the kiosk in the shopping centre that cuts keys was able to make another chipped key , he had the computer hook up to do it. Was less than from ford.
He even cut an unchipped key that does everything but start the truck.
Keep that one in my wallet if I ever lock keys in the truck by mistake.
Hey it does happen once in a while.
My cost in BC was going to be close to $100.
Because I only had 1 key could not use the setup in the manual to make another one.
Ford was $35 for the key and $50 to program it.Plus taxes
