Mag-Hytec diff cover gasket replace??
so here we are some 7 yrs down the road and while i have changed the fluid out several time over the past 60K is miles with the last 2 yrs full time RV and pulling a 30 ft airstream around the country. I estimated using fill up mileage numbers we traveled over 32K miles from June 2020 to oct 2022.. not all them mile was towing that i figured was araound 12-14K miles just doing a point to point map on google..
my question,,, is it time to remove the cover and do a good check and cleaning of the rear diff.. (not having any issues and was just going to do a drain and fill. The dip stick is a STRONG magnet and i check it regularly and remove the constant flow of stuff that is stuck to the end.
in doing so do i need to replace the o ring gasket which in looking at mag hytec site is like 10 bucks.. problem is fricken shipping is 12.00 for priority mail.. hell just through it in an small padded envelope and put 4 stamps on it and send for 5 bucks.
Have to tell you that is why i like amazon,, i can find the same price for stuff and not have to pay shipping..
when i look at what they are selling at mag hytec it look like replacement o-ring not a sepcial molded kit.. so I guess i need to find out the diameter of the grove and find that.. just put the end on top and not problem..
anyone know the size oring needed on these dudes..
I would take that O-ring to ACE hardware and get one. If I didn't find one that was exactly the size, I'd get the two that were closest and make it work. Actually, I would go to my shelves and pull out my O-ring kit and get one that worked.
