First question: It looks like it has two fill plugs? Which one do I use, the higher or lower one? I don't want to underfill my diff, but I don't want to overfill it, either?
Second question: Am I correct in my memory that a LubeLocker gasket does not require any sealant/silicone RTV stuffs, that the gasket does the entire job itself?
The cover on the expedition since 2003 isn't able to be replaced with a aftermarket. In 2007 it got another design change and the suspension now bolts to the cover. The covers also have had a drain plug since 2003 so there is no need to pull the cover. Here is the 2007+ rear section (upside down).
I ordered the cover, and it's already on it's way - no way of cancelling now, and if the seller accepts returns, I'll undoubtedly eat part of the price on the return (not to mention return shipping).
There's a cross-member in the way, and I don't have the ability to jack up the rear at the moment to confirm, but do all 2011 Expeditions have a diff as pictured above?
