So I have an 05 f350. Few days ago took a few extra seconds of cranking to start, next day even longer crank, then no start. Hooked up the scan tool.
hpop pressure only getting to 80psi. So I pulled the IPR and the screen and plastic housing was gone...
not sure where, I went fishing in the hole with a pick but found nothing. Replaced the IPR. Changed the oil, still no start. Pulled the relief valve on the low pressure pump, no chunks of the missing screen if they would even get there. Oil filter housing fills with oil in a few seconds when cranking so I think the low pressure oil pump is ok?
Disconnected the icp , no start.
I can post all the scan tool readings if needed. Everything looked good to me or at least what I know.

Last spring/summer I went through the no start, long start cold, no hot start, condition several times.
On the last iteration here's what I did.
replaced:
nipple cups and seals (HHC diesel)
stand pipes (genuine Motorcraft)
injector top seals (Alliance)
change oil and filter (triax supreme 5w-40, motorcraft filter)
new IPR valve and screen
Knock on wood, the truck is still doing fine almost a year later.
Have you changed the STC fitting on the HPOP? 05 trucks have the snap to connect fitting that can fail.
The major issue I had last year was buying cheap parts from Amazon. Some of the injector top seals would only last a few days, then be worn out completely. As annoying as it is, I think it's best to stick with known good parts. YMMV
Good Luck.
